Must be nice playing the first 2 rounds in Greensboro 50 miles from campus...every year. Couldn't be more of a home game if it was in the Dean Dome. Totally unfair to Creighton. I'm sure the NCAA loves getting the sellout compared to many sites that are one third empty. But still. I wish Albany would bid for an eastern sub regional site. They did a real nice job in '03 for the Regional. I'm sure that would be too small a site for the Regional now but it would be a great sub regional pod site. Anyone know if they ever put in a bid?

Its pathetic. Its also pathetic how nantz faws all over the blue blood programs. "If we are lucky we will see another kentucky/carolina game on april 3rd."

uck off.

The NCAA might as well cut the smoke and mirrors and play the games in Raleigh.

And always remember this, Duke and UNC playing in Greensboro is OK, but Syracuse playing in Albany is an unfair advantage. That is written right in the NCAA rules.

Duke has played what, 12, 18, 24? NCAA games in NC, bound to lose one once in a while.

Ya saying "it doesn't matter 'cause 1 of them lost" is terrible logic. They would've lost a lot more over the years if they weren't playing at home. This game wouldn't matter but vs Washington last year homecourt was almost certainly the difference.

It would be a closer game if Creighton's game plan wasn't to let UNC have any open look they want. They have played into Carolina's strengths the whole game. Pathetic defense.

Poor North Carolina and Duke won't have home games next year in the NCAA tournament. If they get the closest spots for Syracuse will be Philly obviously then Dayton and Auburn Hills. The top ACC and Big East teams will both be fighting for Philly next year.
Palace of Auburn Hills, Auburn Hills, Michigan (Host: Oakland University)
Rupp Arena, Lexington, Kentucky (Host: University of Kentucky)
EnergySolutions Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah (Host: University of Utah)
HP Pavilion, San Jose, California (Host: San Jose State University)
University of Dayton Arena, Dayton, Ohio (Host: University of Dayton)
Frank Erwin Center, Austin, Texas (Host: University of Texas at Austin)
Sprint Center, Kansas City, Missouri (Host: Big 12 Conference)
Wells Fargo Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Host: Temple University)

If MSG hosts the regional, it will be interesting to see which BE teams are eligible to play there.

Poppy if the East chooses MSG as the host, then I would take whatever seed it would take to be in that region. SU in MSG in the NCAA tournament would be like UNC in Greensboro we would OWN the crowd. With that said I have brought this up before and CTO has said the East regional won't be in MSG because of the NIT and I trust her reasoning. I would love the East regional at MSG, but I highly doubt it will go there I bet it will be the Barclays Center in Brooklyn next year.

It will be interesting to see it there is the same firestorm of controversy about#2 Kansas playing #1 UNC in St. Louis like there was about #3 Syracuse playing #1 Oklahoma in Albany. So far I've only seen Doyel mention it.

Nantz mentioned it on Selection Sunday too. Of course he is a unc fanboy...
I know there was very little made of it when Memphis as the better seed played Texas A&M and Texas in Texas in consecutive years, probably in part because Memphis won both games (plus who is going to feel bad for Cal?).

I said this before, if the tourney rotated between Albany, Rochester, and Buffalo, and we did well enough to get the higher seed, we would do pretty well!

Kentucky also had a nice draw this year. It's only about an hour drive from Lexington to Louisville. Close enough that even Ashley Judd could make the trip.

How come Duke Vitale never cries about this like he does about us never leaving the state of NY? What seemed to be lost in this is that Marquette had to play Murray St in Kentucky as well. As long as Syracuse can play in Buffalo, Albany, Brooklyn and the Garden I'll be fine with it but if we have some dipwad in the NCAA saying we can't and NC/Duke and Kentucky can continually play in their home states, then I'll be highly annoyed and throw a fit that won't do anything to effect the situation other than make myself feel better.

I was told Pepsi Arena (or whatever they are calling the arena in Albany these days) is too small to host NCAA men's basketball events and the 2003 thing was a special once in a lifetime thing. I think it was to thank them for hosting some Frozen Fours. Would not expect to see Albany host another NCAA men's hoops event again. Buffalo is a different story.

Regarding next year, might Duke and UNC be placed in Lexington instead of Philadelphia? Lexington is a little further from Durham (470 miles to 393 miles) but with traffic, it would probably be an easier drive.

Is there any chance of that happening? I wouldn't think so, but I guess I don't really know.

I'd be surprised if they were too small to host the first 2 rounds. The arena is about 14k or so, I think. Providence hosted the first 2 rounds 2 years ago with about 11,000 seats.

I'd expect the arena in Brooklyn to become major player in the NCAA tourney.

Plus Philly is up hill all the way.

I wonder about too small given the vast amount of empty seats I saw at most of these games. Do these events sell out?
