USA Today Coach Salary Database

There’s NO WAY that Brian “I killed a kid” Kelly @ ND is that far down the list.

Also - while we don’t know for sure, everything indicates Dino’s salary starts with a 3-handle.
So he is being fairly and competitively compensated -
so much for “Syracuse never pays coaches fair market value”

That's his old contract that was frontloaded. He just reupped until '24 so he'll see an increase.

I think that Kelly’s compensation is heavily subsidized by a sponsorship from Under Armor.

Kelly's income is around $6.5 million a year from all sources, old contract.

No numbers yet released regarding his recent extension.

How many years does last years ship buy Ed O at $8 mil a year? Yikes. Also, imo, Dino is making plenty at the moment for a guy with a 24-29 record.

Depends on how angry the boosters are at the product on the field. Hiring Bo Pelini was a mistake and had they lost against Florida which was a real possibility, there would have been pressure to fire him Bo before he himself began facing scrutiny next season should the same thing happen again.

Well that throws one argument out the window that, "HCDB is the best coach we can get and we could never find a better coach".

This has to be flawed or I’m naive.

Fan of Gary Patterson, but #9? Too high.

Northwestern is #13???

And Brohm at Purdue is #130?

I don’t think this factors in all compensation. Seems off.
Some of it is outdated or that's the only info they can get, borhm is making north of 5 million after his extension, NW probably had to do that to avoid fitzgerald being poached

Why are guys with big salaries listed as having no total pay and at the bottom of the list? I see asterisks there but don't see where they're explained.

Not many. Ed O is going to be exposed without the OC. He won't last.

lost the DC as well which is a huge issue right now too. Glad Ed O got the $ but I agree he will be gone by end of next year, IMO. They won't wait long

Right way to look at this is in terms of P5.

There are 65 P5 programs. 60 of those have salary info on this list.

Of those 60, we are 44th, just above bottom quartile.

I agree, and that is after a renegotiated contract and a 10-3 season. The 44th spot is Syracuse stepping up and paying "big" money for a coach that everyone wanted to keep and extend at that time.
