It’s certainly wrong. But I’m guessing they took the spot of a person who would have paid full shot to get in, not someone who would be getting aid. Just a guess.

The Ivy's financial Aid is like a scholarship. Make less than $100k? Harvard is free. Then it is stepped, based on earnings. Others have a similar structure.(Yale, etc.)

So yes. They stole a free (or extremely discounted) Ivy education from some kids, at other schools. All stole an opportunity for an athlete that earned it.
