UVA is too smart and well coached to play zone against

What a game. Duke starts 0-10 from 3 and now they can't miss.
For most SU games, its seems best that a team makes their first few 3 pt shots. They then fall in love with it and by the 2nd half when Su makes adjustments and percentages catch up, they can't buy one. If a team misses their first few (or most of the 1st half) then SU is in trouble unless SU builds a big lead because percentages catch up in then 2nd half and they don't miss from the arc.

In 1 or 2 losses could one say defense was the problem. Otherwise, it is the offense. Broken record talk...sigh.

They are well coached and will slice zones up and get good high percentage shots pretty much every possession. We will need them to miss good shots to have a chance.

Honestly this is a team you have to play m2m against and hope they miss jump shots. Every possession against Duke's zone they get the ball to the correct spot and cause the d to collapse.

So it will be no different than playing Pitt and Storz in the old Big East

alsacs, we have no depth. No back up center. We can't play man to man against anyone with this team.

and many of those times SU had the offensive talent to outscore storz, but they weren't scared of the zone. Calhoun did an ESPN segment in 2003 about beating the zone. I do think that he's third on the list of zone ownage behind Pitino and Dixon.

Calhoun had fantastic teams and lost to a number of inferior syracuse teams. What Calhoun said, everyone already knew. There isn't a secret formula to beat the zone. High school coaches know. Like against a man to man. If you have the right players, you can beat it. 28-28
