Per post by one of our board's mods. Will probably discuss what the players have voted to do about the season.

Late add: 99.9999999% of our posters are fully on board with whatever the players decide to do.

While Carla Williams, the AD, and Tony Elliott didn't explicitly say the game Saturday is on or off at the presser, the feeling on our board is that we're probably going to play Coastal Carolina on Saturday and definitely will play VPI next week.

There's no right or wrong path here, IMHO. If playing is too much for the team emotionally, then cancelling is understandable. If playing helps the mourning and healing process along, then play.

My daughter was at the vigil on the lawn last night, and I think the act of being together as a community was helpful. Being in Scott Stadium could act like that on Saturday as well. But it will be really hard for the players to do that, I'm sure.

I wish the team well in their games and with everything else. I'll be rooting for you guys!

I'd want to play but that's me. There's no right or wrong answer here, but I think it has to be unanimous. Not sure how you decide with 100 players and coaches. I think people try to mostly view these through the lens of the victims/deceased. We always say things like 'he/she'd want you to play' etc.

The basketball team just had a moment of silence for them at the Dome

Some of the universities in Virginia lit up some of their buildings in orange and blue last night. I'm going to believe that the Dome is lit up orange and blue tonight for UVA.

I was surprised to hear they would consider having the game. I know they want to respect the wishes of the teammates but I can’t imagine the families - who we might give the greatest weight to in terms of input - would have any interest in stopping the activities around their child’s passing to watch or participate in a game.

There are also times, and I think this is one, where older folks have more perspective on life events and we might want to give greater weight to their voices.

I’m all for empowering student athletes, and the decision to cancel the game is a good one, but I think how this was discussed/how they got there might have been a little different. Whatever, young lives were lost and we can’t undo that.
