VA TECH Post Game

What a choke job!! Up 13 with about 10 minutes left in the game and SU goes into a delay game, waiting for the last 5-10 seconds to shoot. Even the announcers mentioned it. VT goes on a 14-1 run to tie it up. If Red gave the team directions to slow it down it should be another nail in his coffin. This team needs all 30 seconds to score, not just 5-10.

When you get up on the road you really need to TRY to lockdown on the defensive end. So many easy jumpers for VT coming off little ball screens. Lampkin makes no effort to show and Hammond and Young got countless easy jumpers at the foul line. We don’t have anyone who can consistently make those little jumpers.

I don't know if Starling was worse on the offensive or defensive end of the court. Young destroyed him. The whole team was terrible on defense but Starling was the worst by far, Bell second, other than that great block. VT shot 60.7% from the field, well over that in the 2nd half. Terrible. Just terrible. Defense is coaching and this team is not getting it.

I'm not even sure that's true. They seem to honestly have no idea how to even play defense at this level. Hard to judge effort based on that.

I'm just talking the lack of effort on display and numerous sets where we're trailing a guy at 80% speed and effort and he gets an uncontested open shot because we're 2 steps behind, have to go under a screen because we're so far off the man, etc.

It's been happening all year and the player effort is lacking.

It happened a number of times at the end of the game when we needed a stop as well. It's mind boggling how soft they play on D sometimes when the game is on the line.

If JJ is any more than a 3rd scoring option next year, it’s not going to get any better. Dude is a roller coaster of hot and cold.

Still don’t understand our rotations.

Took the air out of the ball with like 9 minutes left and stopped doing what worked.

Lampkin should have dominated on offense this game.

Red keeps his habit of sitting good Cuffe versus playing Cuffe big minutes when he’s not good.

Carlos should never take 6 3’s in a game.

Just a bad loss.
Carlos got screwed twice on threes when he was passed the ball with no time left on the shot clock

We need a great coach, not a good coach, with all the pressures of NIL. Red might end up being decent with more time to develop, but I don't see how he's ever going to be great. It's a waste of time and money to hold onto him at this point because the narrative with him is baked, and it's going to be harder to attract portal talent even if we have more NIL. He'll always be an Orange legend, but he's not the answer as head coach.

I just don’t understand how Red uses Cuffe in these games.
Kid was on fire - scored 13 points on 4 of 6 shooting.
The announcers even said how good he was.
i said to my dog Buddy Buckets, just watch, he won’t score again.
Red will decide to either take him out or not get him any shots.

And that is what happened.
I wanted to hurl.

JB is finally going to get his quote realized next year when no one shows up for games at the dome. He said it was too big and he didn't want to play there.

Watching Seton Hall vs St. John’s in a sold out MSG on CBS just adds insult to injury.
You'd think that would provide some motivation from the AD to move forward, especially with the potential media attention brought by Anthony and company.

Instead, any source of excitement for next year is dead, unless you're an insider that wants one more year of access and fears an outsider (read: actual coach) coming in and restructuring. Literally the only people I know that are not outraged and vocal about a potential Red Year 3 are people who actually know the guy personally.

For the good of the program: GET OVER IT!
