I'd like someone who runs a base 4-3 defense. Tremble and Deslauriers on either side of Bryant works as a base set. Either OLB can pass rush our drop into coverage as situations dictate. We ran 3 safety sets with a "star" last year despite not really having a viable safety after Grant got banged up.

Seems logical that we're looking for someone who can also coach the LB's at a high level. IMO.

Tremble us a stud and needs to play any and everywhere. AD gets better by Tremble playing as they're both plus athletes in space and can hit.

We used Bryant completely wrong. He is a downhill mlb ala Ray Lewis (minus the murdering) but we put him in way too much space and asked him to move laterally. I was critical of him as well but always aware we completely misused him. Hell at least he can tackle but he, nor Derek should ever EVER play outside the tackles.

Tremble was a major disruptor when he was first moved to D and disappeared the 2nd half of the season. I was expecting more from him as the season went on and we got the opposite. I suppose part of that was the entire collapse of the team, so maybe we shouldn't put any stock into that.

We were tragically easy to scheme against last season. Once teams got film on him they started accounting more for him with extra blockers I'd imagine.

Bit like mlb pitchers that come in and have an amazing first 5 appearances until analytics knock them back down to Earth a bit.

I don't care where or how we play him but he needs to be on the field and ideally not in a WR number that's so easy to spot preseason. May as well be wearing a pink jersey at that point.

Question for anybody who knows: for a guy like Caporale who recruits but doesn’t coach, what does he do all day when the team is practicing or lifting? Does he just call and text recruits and high school coaches?

If you go to 14:20 of Fran's signing day press conference, he talks a little more about Caporale's role. Not a ton, but did say he manages all of the finances for the program. I would imagine given the changes coming with the House bill, that keeps him pretty busy.

I want that finance job by the way. But it has to be remote and then they fly me to any games I want to attend. Someone make that happen.

I agree, however, I can always dream! Plus HCFB has learned from this season and I believe he will fill the open coaching positions with better choices!

You cant tell me that Saban wouldnt consult though on what he is seeing on tape even if it was just for a week of his time. His SPA cant take up much of his time the way he runs it.

I hope we're tweaking the coaching staff, not firing everyone. I'd be happy running it back with a new OL coach and Elijah as DL Coach/Co-DC with a new guy. There are pieces to work with.

• Elijah is a first-rate recruiter and all-around good influence on SU. Find the right role.
• Nixon's offense could score from anywhere in 24. (Yeah, I know. Kyle. Still, Nixon was OC)
• Our specials were pretty good last year. Why did the ST coordinator get canned?

We definitely need changes. I saw a lack of effort in the closing games. But, no HC can provide 100% of the continuity - it's too much - and we've got some talent on the staff already.
