Vinny Lobdell Donor Group

Seriously I’m so sick of Etan Thomas. SHUT UP. You don’t do anything. Vinny is such a good dude. He has given this program so much money and does so much stuff behind the scenes that no one even knows about. He’s giving millions and millions. And like I said “someone who sits close to melo”, well here ya go. It’s him. Glad this is out because he’s helping more than anyone
Seriously all the more reason we needed GMac in. He knows everything about these clowns over the years. What they’re giving and what they’re not. Who’s useless and who will help.

Not that I think gmac has some crazy superpower to control the crazy past alumni but I think he’ll do a better job than most telling these guys to shut the hell up.

Of course Red had to go, but he has to be thinking, "Where was all this support when I was here?" Maybe he needed to be more vocal and upfront about Cuse not being competitive in NIL. Sometimes it takes a drastic change to improve things and make people evaluate the big picture. Our drastic change was a losing program and firing the coach.

That last sentence is weird. Care to share, generally, why?
They had to beg to get money to invest in reds players last year because folks saw the writing on the wall. Nobody wants to contribute to a loser. Same thing happens on football. It’s harder to raise money when you’re losing. It’s easier when you’re winning or there’s excitement. Gerry’s one of the most popular players.

He didn’t like to ask people for money. He’s a great man but wasn’t cut out to be a HC especially in this era.

I could see the whole black v white racism card being rolled out by Etan and his ilk. (when your only tool is a hammer, everything is a nail.) On the surface, it screams double standard, at best.
I think it would behoove the school to let the public know (assuming it’s true) that Red had NIL money left over, and had other resources he chose not to utilize. Red was a funded as he thought he needed to be. In hindsight, that was an in accurate assessment of financial needs this day and age, and Syracuse boosters have rallied to make sure SU is in a place where money won’t stand in the way of our coaches and players competing for championships. In one week Gerry has given more to speak to his understanding the task at hand and confidence building than Red did in 3 years. Love Red but he was introduced as the coach and given the job. Gerry announced himself as the top candidate by turning Siena around and almost beating Duke and then has done a great job laying some things out as soon as the job was his.

By the time NIL was a thing..Red already looked hopeless. He reacted very slow and we’ve always heard he wasn’t great fundraising wise. GMac is arguably the most beloved ex-CBB Cuse player of the last 30+ years…..The timing of the Siena turnaround + the Duke game + Red disaster. Donors are willing to give the most beloved player most can remember one final massive NIL push to save the program.

There is no post-GMac. If Gerry fails, not only do we get left behind but the donors leave. It’d be curtains at that point.

No Better person to attract this type of cash in this moment

This is exactly the risk I mentioned before he was hired.
This is our "Hail Mary" shot.
The donors will never be back, and the fans will never be back, if this fails.

Glad he didn’t get it. clearly was above his skis on every aspect of coaching …. But if we had more talent they coulda lucked their way to 23 wins

He made over $91 million in NBA contracts. If he’s pissed at anyone it should be himself. Could have been one of the greatest power forwards of all time.
Etan earned over $44 million himself in the NBA.

We don’t need this negativity right now

Lobdell raised / donated it for Red as well.
That gentleman is literally toxic, and plays the devil's advocate in everything to literally prove his point. He has literally massive narcissistic traits. From a person of color, to people of color, he is toxic and dangerous. It was very foolish for ED, to ally himself with this gentleman. Not a good look however very consistent. Definitely plays two sides of the coin.

he was the biggest or close to the biggest bball donor. maybe not as much as his group but still. maybe some in his group just have a love for gmac. ask etan and derrick how much they donated for red.
That’s my question too.

Oh I’m sure some will argue that. Maybe it’s true with some donors. I don’t know. I do know Red had to be dragged out to meet with donors, didn’t prioritize it and didn’t play the game. And then when you’re losing, it’s even harder.

Fran doesn’t have this problem so I really don’t think it’s a race issue for the most part.

Unbelievable. I was always under the impression that he really tried but still couldn’t muster up enough NIL until last season.

Sounds like he didn’t try that hard to begin with. Ridiculous. This Gmac hire is beginning to make more and more sense by the hour.

We need reality now…if you think this basketball program and donor base would survive another 4 years of no NCAA bids ……. I’m not sure what you expect after that
Okay but for sake Gerry has been a coach for not even a week let’s give him time and see how it goes. You’re going to the worst thing that could happen 🙄. It’s exhausting seeing everyone here go to the worst case Jesus it’s annoying.

If it was race then you honestly can keep your money, because it is dirty and soiled. However I trust that people who actually care, including the University and its supporters literally quash that garbage with goodness and love. There are still some certain structural disadvantages, for sure. However anyone who knows Red from his heart was doing nothing except rooting him on and wishing nothing but success unequivocally. Very hard for me to say this, He unequivocally was not ready, absolutely not. Tragic to watch. the University was not ready for this transition, freaking ridiculous and honestly disgusting. That was because they catered to one individual. However it was allowed. It is very hard to thrive if you see yourself as a victim, time to move on. Red was a dog his first year, unequivocally. He should have been a bit more vocal because the university was not. He paid for it. Primarily as it relates to himself and demanding command. Real hard thing to do in literally an almost impossible situation. He should have got real nasty and he did not, disposition related I have no idea however certainly not goodness, kindness and most importantly basketball acumen. That is on him however his story is not over because he has the most important things, himself, his heart and his faith. Ridiculous class that few can compare to. I strongly suspect Red will not play the victim even with challenges that few would overcome given this set of circumstances. I hope he reads this, stay true to yourself, not ill informed idiots. You won, forever orange for so many reasons. And by the way people that actually know something unequivocally this was futile from the beginning for all of those reasons and the more. Gerry I trust will thrive on the foundation that was laid by Red, or should I say the lack thereof on all invested stakeholders. It's OK to tell the truth.
