Virginia Gameday...

If Roy felt too slighted to let his sons even go to Syracuse at all, it's hard to imagine him letting one go there AND wear #22?

Watching Roy play made it pretty clear it was all about him. His sons recruiting saga at Cuse pretty much shows it's still all about him. I don't see him sending any sons to play for Gary and wear #22. Just how I see it, having been a kid in the Dome watching him play and now seeing his sons spurn Syracuse with him, by all accounts, pulling the strings behind the scene.
It was because Desko prio’d Joey/Leo over his oldest in that cycle, but Gait offered the youngest the 22 this past cycle. I don’t think the ill will is there still, but maybe some? Roy is Roy, and his son are their own person. All stand up men from what I’ve seen. I’m certainly not my dad lol so hard to judge them for Roy being a bit of a show boat back in the day.

Would you folks really want Roy's sons at Syracuse? From what I've heard, he steered them away from Cuse because they didn't get the red carpet treatment Roy thought his sons deserved. And, they went to direct rivals of Cuse.

I understand they're good. But do you really want those kinds of players on your team? I can understand wanting to go to a new program and not play in your father's shadows...but one is at UVA, one started at UVA and is at Duke. These guys seem like free agents with no loyalty who will go wherever they feel the most personal gratification. (A year at UVA then transfer to Duke...a team you haven't beaten in 22 years?!) You could go to a smaller program and light it up, you could go Ivy, but to go to UVA and Duke instead of Syracuse? Ouch.

Imagine if the Boozer brothers went to UNC? Roy seemingly steered his sons to direct rivals. That tells you a lot about Roy and a lot about his sons, in my opinion.
Only a moron doesn’t maximize their personal satisfaction.

also hate to say it but love lars. Watch his presser n nothing but love for cuse O n cuse team n figgy. Just outstanding dude. Met lars many times he also recruited me when was coach for stoney brooke. Terrific coach n dude.
Here are a few quotes and references from his presser yesterday:

"They just sling the ball so well. They lob the ball and it's like 30 yards away and it's right on someone's stick. And they feed the crease so well. It's really kind of the brand. Cause I've been watching this team since I was a little guy. And they always had great stick work. Whether it's the influence of the native Americans, the Onondaga. There’s just a skill level that's more advanced compared to most of our opponents." . . . "It's really the stick work. It's next level."

He also talked about Cuse's pace of substition being so fast, something he's never thought about before.

Great day of lacrosse yesterday, had my high schoolers game, then caught OTs of the womens game and then the mens game followed by some festiviities and catching up with friends, old and new. Roy Colsey didn't "steer" his sons away from Syracuse. The coaching staff gave a half hearted recruiting effort with Ryan, most likely beacause they were putting full effort into Joey and Leo. Ryan has enjoyed his experience as a student-athlete at UVa and that is part of the reason Kyle followed him to UVa. All of Roy's sons are great kids and they had good reasons to end up at the schools they arrived at. And yes, Roy was at the game yesterday.

And to make any statements that Roy Colsey wasnt a great teammate or lacrosse player is bananas. Three time FIRST TEAM all-american, midfielder of the year, world champion, two time National Champion and an outstanding human off the field that would do anything, anytime for one of his teammates. Probably one of the top 15 Syracuse Lacrosse players of all time.

Definitely ready to put Colsey family talks to bed. Not the first time people in the know have said there is no real tension there, but people keep imagining beef where there is none. Certainly hope the injury for Ryan is not too serious. He always seems to play in a composed way and never trash talks, plays dirty, or show boats. Seems like a guy with good character.

Upon a closer rewatch, love some of the hustle plays our guys made. Gotta shout out Tyler McCarthy who has had a major impact transitioning to ssdm/wing play full time. His motor is insane. Wish we had more guys like him on the roster. Jake Spallina has also had a major impact with his hustle plays. Had some nice gbs and other small moments throughout. Has improved a ton since his freshman year. Those guys will make great senior leaders for us next season.
