Virginia Gameday...

I know it's so easy for me to say "just don't slide" but honestly, it seems like it really is that simple for this defense. First goal of the game for Virginia came off a bad slide, and then the D pretty much played their man straight up the rest of the game. It's like they haven't realized how individually talented they are. They are more than good enough to just stick with their guy and let the chips fall how they will. Not sliding also puts more pressure on the ball carrier to score and not get trail checked, and it prevents McCool from having to face a wide open cannon shot. McCool was dialed in but not sliding also means the player shooting is likely going forward with momentum which means a save can lead to a good transition opportunity which happened on a few goals.

Crazy thought watching Colsey today. It seems those boys purposely snubbed Cuse. Three boys picked 3 ACC schools.
We short stick the UVA one today. Almost like we said "prove it". Hope the injury isn't as bad as it appeared.

They would have been great to have the next few seasons.

They had more picked passes this game then maybe all season combined because they trusted the on ball guy to just play solid D.

24 & 5 don’t need slides unless it’s a picked sweep to the middle.

Youngest one still has time to understand the mistake he’s making.. was Colsey Sr at the Dome today?

Your defense played a great game. Holding your offense to 1 goal in the 4Q doesn't do any good when you're down by 3 at the start of the quarter and get shut out.

You should have worn your blue shorts instead of the orange ones, then it really would have looked like an old-time UVa-SU game.

I said this game was going to be about Joey and Jonny but I was wrong - Mr. McCool - you won this game. Unreal performance. I was not familiar with your game.

To the Colsey family - you take a swing at the king, you better not miss. It's comical that all your kids do is lose to us. It's hilarious.

And to the people that made fun of me for making fun of Duke's schedule, do you like your crow served medium rare or well done?

I forgot one thing - to all the Wyatt Hottle experts - go back to your basements and ask me how it's like still living with your parents.

Go Orange. Can't wait for the ND game (Bart Scott voice).

Wow, what a turn-around from last week !!!

If McCool can play that well every game in the tournament we will go VERY far. He was clearly the game MVP.

So proud about how we hung in there in the first half despite getting killed in face-offs. Took control in the second half when that got mostly fixed.

Congrats to Hottle for his first career hat trick. I really like his game.

Go Cuse !!

Not to jinx it but Colseys kids are 0-4 against dad's Alma mater

Missed the game but what a wild ride reading this board has been!

Seems like goalie play was outstanding and the team showed some grit down the stretch. Watched the highlights but will see if I have time for a full replay.

Cuse probably a lock for a top 4 seed as long as they take care of business against Colgate.

I feel pretty good about the ND matchup but we'll see if I eat my words two weeks from now.

I did not see him and I was sitting near a lot of the UVA parents. Yeah that would be great if he flipped. Highly unlikely though. All of his kids are talented players for sure and agree with DMV that we could use them in the coming years.

What's the reason for pop's cold shoulder towards his alma mater? Carc and Desko on air during the game mentioned niceties about him, as well as poking some fun with the; "he never saw a shot he didn't like" type banter. Whatever the case, it's too bad.

Would you folks really want Roy's sons at Syracuse? From what I've heard, he steered them away from Cuse because they didn't get the red carpet treatment Roy thought his sons deserved. And, they went to direct rivals of Cuse.

I understand they're good. But do you really want those kinds of players on your team? I can understand wanting to go to a new program and not play in your father's shadows...but one is at UVA, one started at UVA and is at Duke. These guys seem like free agents with no loyalty who will go wherever they feel the most personal gratification. (A year at UVA then transfer to Duke...a team you haven't beaten in 22 years?!) You could go to a smaller program and light it up, you could go Ivy, but to go to UVA and Duke instead of Syracuse? Ouch.

Imagine if the Boozer brothers went to UNC? Roy seemingly steered his sons to direct rivals. That tells you a lot about Roy and a lot about his sons, in my opinion.

ryan colsey just jumped on arestia's podcast in the last week +. maybe you ought to listen to that 1st before determining what kind of person he is because he didn't go to his dad's school.

If the youngest was really an alpha he would take the opportunity of 22 offered and break Joey’s record + win a ship
If Roy felt too slighted to let his sons even go to Syracuse at all, it's hard to imagine him letting one go there AND wear #22?

Watching Roy play made it pretty clear it was all about him. His sons recruiting saga at Cuse pretty much shows it's still all about him. I don't see him sending any sons to play for Gary and wear #22. Just how I see it, having been a kid in the Dome watching him play and now seeing his sons spurn Syracuse with him, by all accounts, pulling the strings behind the scene.

I recall reading posts that said it was because Desko was prioritizing Joey (and maybe Leo) over Ryan. And Roy was offended by that. ??

Traveling so only saw the replay. Lots of transition/unsettled goals on O, but still some encouraging goals in 6v6 as well. Saw a lot of what we hoped to see more of against UNC.

Anderson was much more aggressive off the dodge and constantly challenging his matchup. He is so big and fast that we have to be thinking on initiating with him quite often, no matter who is guarding him. He is tough to stop with a full head of steak from up top. Thomson made UVA pay for the short stick match up and Spallina got some assists/hockey assists even with the tough Schroeder matchup. Again something we wanted more of against UNC. In general there was excellent ball movement after aggressive slides from UVA.

He has been having a big impact all year, but it was another excellent game for Rhoa. He is the full package with the shot and the dodge and he has found another gear this year. Props to him.

Ssdms held their own against some tough matchups. Figueras another incredible game. McCool takes MVP with some of those saves. Great to have him bounce back and not stay mentally on edge after being benched.

If rhoa can feed or get some glimpse of vision like his feed to hottle. He could be unstoppable. Teams know his range n can snipe it n will. But if when teams run out to him n he can hold off on shot to make a better feed it would be extreme. Mean that pass to hottle he was pulling back to rifle it n quickly saw the opening n got it there right away no hesitation. Then hottle getting lost few times with quick stick goals. That is what can take this team to next level with seniors leading way n feeding the younger guys.

Also mullen/angelo gotta get better at x along with wings. If we can’t win gbs it will not go far specially if not winning at x also. Gbs should be a huge focus all week every week. Cuse was getting hammered on gbs early but then made a comeback n got close then uva just took off on them again. Have to be able to win these gb battles have to.
