Virtual Program Update- April 28 7pm

I agree. Not sure what I was expecting, and it was nice and everything, but it didn't cause me to open my checkbook and send money. But again, I'm not sure what the intent was.

I'm just happy for the effort the staff have made so far rebuilding the roster. Hopefully it leads to a team that wins more games and will contest in every game and not be double digit underdogs vs the top teams. Especially in a conference that is in a down cycle.
I'm going to add to my original comment, now that it appears that they released the video to everyone.

Now I really don't understand why it was originally limited to just a certain batch of STH's.

They could have made it special. "You guys are our core. We greatly appreciate your financial support all these years and want to let you know how important it will be going forward. Thank you so much. Yada, Yada, Yada".

No magnet, no window sticker, no pocket calendar.

After watching it I thought maybe the public version would just be a shortened segment and the other being larger.

Matt Park doesn’t help as the host either. Get a bigger name like a Tirico or someone younger and upcoming and inject some energy into it.

Time for talk is over... time for real results and performance to the "orange standard".

Yea I agree Matt Park was not the way. It's like having the teachers pet there just agreeing with everything. Hell let Fran do the interview :)/

seen some chatter on twitter about this that they said the roster is done.

can anyone confirm or deny?

I don’t want to pile on Red because we do that enough, but I got way more from Kline in this presentation.

I don't know what you were listening to but they for sure said they were still looking. Looking for guys that can help them was said multiple times. They didn't say what position though.
They said they wouldn’t get someone just to get someone. I could see how some might misinterpret that.

Kline is impressive. Red is just a hard listen
Your bashing of Coach. Adrian Autry is much more of a hard listen. Do you contribute to this program is really what I want to ask you. I also see you have many many likes. I could care less just my opinion about your massive negativity. I think you are a detriment to this program. You better be given some change boy otherwise I’m not interested if you are I’ll be quiet I’ll wait your response.

What? LMAO “given some change boy”

Just stating facts my man. I love Syracuse basketball and want nothing more than for it to be successful. Now if you take off your orange colored glasses and you figure out what delusional world you are living in, you’ll see how bad of a season last year was and where Autry lacks as a coach are pretty important areas. Is Autry a very good recruiter? Yes…I gave him credit for that. Now if you would love to point out where Autry has been good otherwise please enlighten me after our great 12 win season, the worst in over 50 years.

Negativity as you say is just stating facts. Unfortunately the facts are hard for you apparently. Now if you want to see me positive. You can look at the football board. Two programs going in two different directions. Sorry you don’t like reality of how things are going with the basketball programs. Maybe you should hop on over to the football board more often.

I’ll be quiet and wait for your response as you say

First, I have to apologize concerning my grammatical errors. I am sort of a young dinosaur as I voice dictate. Just sort of the profession I am in. I promise you, I actually have my doctorate with an actual license. In any event it started at Syracuse University. I am also very passionate about all things Syracuse, certainly including basketball. Coach Autry is a tremendous human being. I will defend that first without coming on some message board sounding like a talking head. At least I hope so. Maybe we will find out? In any event, consider what he took over concerning the program, the transition, how it occurred? Previous losing seasons for the first time in recent history just a couple of years ago, prior to Coach Autry, I will not do this as I certainly will not throw a legend under the bus. However things must be taken in context, where we were when he took over, current NCAA collapse essentially, advent of NIL, funding and so much more. Pretty difficult set of circumstances in my professional opinion. Heck, we actually won 20 games the previous year. I was honestly shocked we did. In any event, as coach JB said we have to give someone a real chance, you wouldn't want to lose someone who bleeds orange without first recognizing what needs to occur and the resources that must be given? I'm sorry, I have this thing for the underdog, especially as it comes to integrity. I am not interested in your response. Just send the check because your insight is extremely narrow, and you do not see the big picture of what college athletics is all about, even in a massively changing environment. My prayer is coach does not let people like you change the core of who he is, literarily who have no impact upon lives more than likely with an intent of degrading others in a defaming way to make themselves look good while gathering attention from like minded individuals such as yourself. No thank you. Call me an idealistic Homer, I am not going to change in that respect, win, lose or draw. Be well

I 100% agree with you. Not sure what the disconnect was.

i believe in free speech but I also do often reflect that the negativty we post on here isn't doing a thing to help this program recover...and likely is hurting the program to be fair.

im part of that so I bite my lip from time to time...but realize that I am also to blame at times

im really torn on this question

we're all "free" to do as we please...but lets be honest...what impact does spewing negativity have? even if it is true...so what?

its a bit of a release I suppose...and people i guess feel that if they let their displeasure be known it might lead to actual change that can help things...

but we all know the decision for this upcoming season has been made...so I think we should ask ourselves what kind of impact are we having with our posts? I know that the noise gets to the players and coaches...and its not that some of it isnt deserved/accurate/factual...but if you are a SU fan...then why possibly contribute in the wrong direction??

I think what some people want is a great coach who will have a lot of lousy players because he can’t recruit. You’re never going to make some on this forum ever happy. I think some just like to be miserable.

You cannot have intelligent, informed, high-level discussion without truth, objectivity, and varying perspectives. Your version of “spewing negativity” is very simply only Your perspective. This is a sports discussion forum—if we aren’t supposed to talk about what we see, why is the point?

Just today, someone on the SonsOfSamHorn site—long known for its extraordinarily high standard of discourse—posted this [Re: Red Sox]:

“Well, there is a lot of pessimism. So, too, is there a lot of Pollyannaish bs. And if you express any skepticism or concern about this or that, that you're not 100% convinced of a future outcome, you're met with screeching accusations of pessimism.”

Well, the Sox have experienced a string of ~last place finishes, just like we’ve seen a protracted downward trend. The dialog matches the context, in my opinion. Not sure what you want. A squelching of honesty, and a promotion of ‘spin?’ Because, what, recruits and transfers will be fooled into signing up because we’re all so super supportive, and because we ignore poor performance?

One rhetorical question you ask says it all to me. “Even if it’s true… so what?” Well, truth maybe means more to me than to you. Truth is not an incidental matter. It is The matter. But, we aren’t all going to agree on what truth is. Which is the purpose of a discussion forum. Information, discussion, entertainment, convergence, divergence…. No forum worth a damn is just a pep rally for like minds.

When people say they are for “free speech,” except—- one has to question the definition and the motive. Free speech, but only when it tilts one way and agrees with Me?

That’s ridiculous. I don’t even know how an adult brain reaches a thought or conclusion at this level of illogic and absurdity.

I think Autry was woefully underprepared and/or naive about what he needed to handle and put his imprint on.

Finally has the portal/NIL under control now. Seems like S&C is being changed. Now it's on him to develop his coaching and keep this job.

If we were 30-5 last year and there was negativity maybe I could get on board with this take. But we just had our worst season in 50 years, and the HC hasn't proved that he can motivate/coach his guys into some surprise wins in his two years here.

I'm interested to see what he does with this collection of recruits/transfers, but it's not negative to be really concerned about the play on the court. At the end of the day, winning the offseason means nothing if the team on the floor isn't good once the season starts.
