Think other than our current OL commits (if they end up still being takes) OL will come from JC/Portal mostly. We really need to improve our quality on the 2 deep. Our recruiting staff has been following lots of these types on Twitter I noticed. This also will be a longer play most likely with us continuing to monitor as there is an influx to portal post spring practices too.

If McCordy doesn’t happen, I’m a bit worried. Even bringing someone in from the spring portal isn’t as ideal as getting one this cycle who can start learning the offense

I'm not expecting McCordy. We'll see.

Our DEF is stacking up. Thrilled about that.

Its possible the staff thinks they have the pieces to coach up the oline? You give them the tools, throw them in the smoker for a year or two, and see if you have Brisket - or not.

Maybe OburgCuse is right, and we hit the portal for guys that are already developed. The problem is that EVERYONE is going to want those guys...

I hope I’m wrong but I’m not sold on the new OL coach as being the guy that can coach up our line. We’re not going to have a stacked coaching staff top to bottom, so it is what it is. But this is one of the most important units.

There's a lot of time left in the portal too. I suspect the staff is chasing the best talent they can right now regardless of position to upgrade the roster and then can sharpen their pencils after this first wave.

The portal is only open for 30 days, It opened for entry on 12/1. This will be the last weekend for prospects to visit campus as there is an NCAA recruiting shutdown from 12/22/223 through 1/2/24.
Early signing is 12/20-12/22/23. Late signing is 2/7/24 through 4/1/24.

With these other receivers visiting, combined with commitments I would expect we will see a few additional SU receivers hit the portal here shortly. Wishing them luck now. It's tough to transition, hopefully they find fresh opportunities. Loving the upgrades in talent we are getting now though and can't wait to see how the team comes together in the Spring and late summer.

Ok that's what I was thinking about when I said there was still time. As rosters shake out other guys will become available. But this is the prime time.

Not any time. They still have to follow the recruiting calendar of contact and dead periods.
And for some in the portal there is a reason they stay in the portal and don't commit somewhere else right away.

Well yeah visits have to be in appropriate windows allowed but can commit anytime. Sorry worded wrong putting “etc” there in middle. Just wanted to point out that portal closing doesn’t mean it’s the end of recruiting those guys out there (or potentially grad guys who can newly enter anytime).
