Voted 5th in tailgating

I'm as a big of a tailgate guy add there is, but that's a bit generous.

We have good pockets of tailgates, but belong nowhere in the same list as ole miss.

Also, his main line in describing the scene is completely off base - would all the students come out? Sure, for a 4:47 game time on a leap year Saturday when it is 72.4 degrees and not flip night, and maybe only then.

That being said, once troop gets here all bets are off.

God the students really should be ashamed.

How in the world did we get on that list? The SU Tailgate scene is pretty weak. Although I do my best to entertain when I make it out.

Im guessing the author attended one of the sorority parties he mentioned and might well have gotten very very lucky and his fond memories puts us up that high.

Syracuse offers a lot of awesome on game day, but tailgating pre-game never seemed that impressive to me as a student.

"Every single student at the University comes out on Saturdays to support the Orange & Blue."

Yeah...um maybe they come out to party but the game attendance is bad.

He mentions these were tailgates he attended last year. I gotta say, if he was in town for Clemson it might have seemed impressive. There were tailgates everywhere, including a lot of students. Of course syracusefan had the best one, but it was nuts. Also, if it was that game, he might not have known that it was homecoming. The whole city was turned up that weekend. The two big problems for SU are weather, and not having huge open areas for everyone to congregate. The diehards on here can tailgate with the best of them though.

most of us were too drunk the night before to care about tailgating for a nooner. we just go harder at night, it's a SU thing.
well you showed up for games right?

Wow, kind of shocked we're that high. But since I won "TailgateFan of the Week" that episode maybe they're on to something. I will say that the Marshall St Mall parking area (where we tailgate) was amazing that day even with the rain. They filmed a lot there and down by those student apts.

The fact that Michigan isn't on that list renders it completely meaningless.

There is absolutely no flipping way on god's green earth that we are a Top-5 tailgating school in the nation. No way.

We'd struggle to be Top 5 in the ACC...much less the SEC...much less the nation.

Who's better? Off the top of my head...
Florida State
Clemson
Ohio State
Michigan

THAT'S what renders it completely meaningless?
what makes it meaningless is that you didnt add this...

He must have been in town for the Clemson game because thats the only potential thing I can remotely come up with as to why he has Syracuse way way way overrated. As an executive board member of the fine lot group I love tailgating but theres zero chance Syracuse is that high.

Exactly my thinking as well. Also I would mention that this list is of games he attended personally last season. I don't think some people who are outraged by this list are understanding that part. He doesn't say we are top five in the country, just top five that he attended last season. The Clemson game was really good tailgating for Cuse, was even on ESPNU's tailgating show.

Must have gotten football tailgating confused with barbarian hordes descending on unsuspecting away basketball conference/conference tourney/NCAA towns.

Who else but SU fans can drink a major hotel in NO out of beer?

see this is the problem and a reflection of the "Syracuse attitude", with the overly critical reaction. You bet your GD a$$ we're number 5 on a list of great tailgates as anyone who has been to a FINE MESS knows. A bunch of other places too up there for big games (obviously he was up for Clemson). If we ever get good again consistently this is what is going to be the norm for most games and will be the way it is going to be going forward and there will no question about #5.

It's really that simple and another feather in the cap for this program and school to market the hell out of along with everything else going on lately. Embrace it. :bang:

Fine lot tailgate is definitely top 5 but the rest of the scene not so much. But in all honestly the fine lot is so good I am always there so maybe the surrounding areas have gotten light years better the past few seasons.

This cracks me up I saw this article and posted it. I was figuring id get a bunch of people saying no way we are 5 we are at least 2... But oh no everyone responds no way we suck compared to everyone else. That's pretty funny

It's just like going to an obscure Bowl..win the game...we won a bowl game. Somebody thinks were are Top 5 ...cool, I'll take it. Should it matter where the accolades come from? I'm like Cuseregular...embrace it!:noidea:
