Waiters

Thanks, rf...you too. I'm going through some really bad health stuff with a family member, so send some good thoughts my way.

Well he did tweet that he's working out at the melo center about an hour ago so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Dion (Waiters) didn't play in the second half -- was he injured?

“We wanted to get Michael some opportunities and he’s still trying to figure it out. He made a couple really good plays at the end so I’m glad we were able to leave him in there to get that experience. It was a 13-point game when he made a great drive and dish out to Scoop for a three – then he made four free throws and made good defensive plays. So, that was good for him.”
I didn't hear the question at all...it was inaudible. Thanks for the post.

I saw a tweet by him saying he was going to be working out with someone. Some players work out on game nights AFTER games? I never would've thought that would be the case.

Not one question about Dion from the keystone cops in the press? Morons.
There was a question asked about Dion in the presser, something to the effect "Was Dion hurt because he didn't play in the 2nd half"...JB said "No...just wanted to play MCW"

Terribly sorry to hear that.

Happy holidays--you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Congrats to all the lip readers out there, then.

Agree to disagree. I've rewatched it on TiVo, and I assure you that it wasn't as animated of an exchange as you are making it out to be. Yes, Dion dropped an bomb after talking to coach. No, it wasn't directed at Boeheim.

And it apparently wasn't just me--the media didn't seem to think it was an issue, either--which explains why nobody brought it up.

Waiters wasn't 1o0%. We had control of the game. End of story.

Some of Waiters minutes went to MCW tonight because we had control of the game. Not sure if the hand was a factor. As for his demeanor on the bench, he was the only player seemingly not into the game. Not sure if this is a big deal, but it was noticable to me. Something to watch as we go forward.

Thanks, man. Never good timing for serious health issues but it can't be any worse than during the holidays.

Griff, who's walk-on griffin Hoffman. Dion probably wanted to get some shots up since he didnt play a lot. Griff probably rebounded and vice versa. Not out of the ordinary.

Dion wants to be the star more than anybody else on the team. He's getting mentions and face time but is not thrown around on ESPN as one of the top players in the country with consistency. He knows he won't become the star he wants to be sitting on the bench.

A part of me likes his attitude and ambition. He will become a star simply because he has the tools and belief. My feeling is that he needs some patience. He wants the NBA asap and he needs to slow down and take it a game at a time. The greatest players have his ambition, this is a good thing. We just need it kept under control before it hits selfish territory.

P.S. Wouldn't it be great if Triche had this attitude. Triche needs some a**hole in him. I want to see him pissed off.

in season it makes more sense to lift after games rather than in the morning before; I believe it's pretty much standard practice

Eman77 agree 100%
I get the feeling Dion always wants to play win or lose. No matter what the score is, I get the feeling the guy just wants to play.

Some guys who shoot 0-4 can take themselves out of a game. I could be wrong but Dion never does that. He understands the meaning of never give up and at such a young age.

Well, dion's got plenty to lend apparently

This whole team is laid back I feel like. Dion has an attitude, Fab has a bit of one; but besides them everyone is kind of easy-going.

DId anyone notice him today? Looked like he had a little argument with JB early in the 2nd half, moved to the end of the bench and never came back in. When the walk-ons went in and Tomazewski scored, the bench exploded, but Dion just sat there, chewing his gum. In the handshake line, he kept his head down the whole time. Maybe I'm looking too much into this, but I hope this isn't gonna be a continuing trend that occurs when Dion isn't the guy for that game.
No way is Dion ever going to win an argument against JB.

His attitude is not the best..but sometimes we forget how young these guys are just because they are on TV and we think of them as public, seasoned figures. They are not. Think back to when you were his age and you felt slighted in some sense... im almost 40 and I have my days still. cut the kid some slack.

Triche didn't get much PT in 2nd half either. So why not concentrate on that "issue" too?? Why is it always a Dion thing?

Because we all saw Dion and JB have an exchange; followed by Dion wallowing at the end of the bench, even when the walk-ons scored.

...Triche didnt vocally and body language complain about not being in there or taken out...actually he looks hurt...he doesnt have Dion's fire...but Dion needs to be a cooler head

JB never really answered the question, did he? ;)

From what I saw ... just a reiteration: Dion was called in and sat next to JB. JB had a few words with him. The Fbomb was thrown, JB just turned his head and Dion skulked down the bench putting a towel around his neck. JB then called BT to sit next to him. I then made a point of watching Dion on the bench. He was hunched over and didn't respond once when the bench was going crazy over any play ... not just Tomazewski's. To me it was like "Oh s***, Bad Dion is back." I hope not ... he's been #1 in book until last night. He's been showing great attitude and support. I hope that it was just his thumb that kept him benched last night. And I agree, I think that JB pulled him to get more time for MCW ... he pulled BT as well.

I dont mind the fire from Dion. Yea he needs to make sure he doesnt lose his temper and allow that to overtake his buying into the team, but the rest of the team could use some of that fire imo. Fab and Dion are the only ones who show alot of emotion, coincidentally if they both stay around next year they are both probably lottery picks.

I do think Scoop and KJo are solid leaders. They have a very even keel approach it seems, level headed and dont seem to get too high or too low.

Dion reminds me of some of the newly minted college grads I used to interview. They wanted to know whether they'd be in a vice-presidents slot by the end of their first year on the job.

I mean if you all ready know it all, why think you have anything to learn?

Using his age is a terrible excuse. He's old enough to be a team player and have a good attitude. There are plenty young 20's who don't sulk and curse at the coach.
Dion has the most upside of anyone on the team and the key to the TEAMS success has been the turnaround in his attitude. I hope that continues and last night was nothing more than a blip.
