Waiters

Seems that there is too much anti-Dion sentiment here. After reading this thread, I went back to my DVR and watched that segment - seems like a lot of you are over-reacting. The exchange - whatever it was - between Dion and JB was minor and IMO not fiery - and when the walk-on kid hit a 3 at the close, Dion was not the only player who was not outwardly celebrating - several of them were stoic or relaxing. So what? Some people don't get excited about anticlimactic action during garbage time. Or, could it be that he was just worried about his thumb? Nice to see Mookie getting excited about it, though, considering his lack of PT.

Maybe his hand is hurt from the showboating dunks? Dion is a terrific talent but he is childish nd selfish. Seem like he's only worried about himself which is understandable playing for a NBA career but he can be a better teamate nd more coachable player. He acts like he is a senior nd this is his last rodeo, he acts like he should overtake a starting spot nd shows no hommage of the players who came before him. Get a grip Dion your year is next year if your not already gone. Scouts can see talent coming off the bench esp getting 20 mins a game but there not gonna dig the attitude.

Sounds like a lot of people here were just waiting for their first opportunity to bash Dion and are disappointed that it took 12 games to let their hate out.

I agree this is out of control is this how you loyal fans support your players? Good grief

I don't think it's a question of hate. At least not with me. I just think that as talented as Dion is, he still needs to learn more about the game AND himself.

No hate at all, Love the player. But any loyal fan would agree his attitude can be childish nd come across as its all about me. Not his 1st encounter with JB. Thought about transferring. Don't cheer his teamates on. Barely shakes opponents hands nd dosent even say GG.

Sorry if "loyal" fans have negative feelings towards that. He reminds me of Johnny Flynn with the ambition but should learn how to control it.

We are more LOYAL to SU Basketball not rotten attitude.

My take on this is certainly not based off any dislike of Dion. I have been greatly encouraged all year with how he has conducted himself. He got himself in great shape, has shared the ball for the most part and seems to be playing well with others (notably BT, who he didn't seem to be on the same page with last year).

I never said the thing with JB last night was a big deal; I just thought it was a red flag that Dion played for like 30 secs in the 2nd half and then was never seen again. I was doing a lot of things at once last night, so I missed Tim Welsh talking about the hand issue. Also, I watched the post-game with JB but couldn't hear the Dion question...I only caught part of JB's response.

As others have said, I don't think it was a big deal and hope he'll continue to make strides this year. I think our best chance at cutting down the nets is to stay healthy as a team and Dion Waiters being a huge contributor. He's good enough to carry us in some games in the tourney and be almost our version of Kemba. He is that talented.

Sometimes this board makes me laugh.
We say if it isn't broke don't fix it. Don't mess around with who is starting and coming off the bench.

But in reguards to Dion it needs fixing immedietly. Its like a serious serious issue.
Yet without Dion we most likely have atleast one loss this year, possibly two.

Yes, Dion should be more supportive of his teamates. But, having the fire he does is important also.

In some ways Dion does have a argument at the starting role that has to be frustrating to know. Actually I feel he deserves it with Scoop, but right now either him or Scoop have to come off the bench. Because Brandon is not going to take over a game off the dribble or passing the way Scoop and Dion can.

We need a 6th man who is a dribbler not two shooters in Southerland Triche to add to Fair. Dion, Fair and Southerland bring a much different concept. One shooter, one isolation dribbler and one scrappy half shooter, dribbler, offensive rebounding type. Personally I like his fire because your not going to get it from Brandon or Southerland. And Fair is playing more mental this year. Last year he played more scrappy.

Dion has enough on his plate. As long as he stays loyal to the good of the team I can care less about his selfishness or his attitude.
Once again if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Just wondering...how do you stay loyal to the good of the team if you are selfish and have a poor attitude...just asking

Watch dion when hes on the court, whenever someone else hits a 3 or makes a great play dion pumps his fist or claps his hands or something like that. Even when dirty hit a pretty meaningless 3 last nite when we were already up double digits, as soon as it bounced in dion gave a little fist pump. Doesnt sound like a selfish player to me, sounds like a player happy his teammate hit a shot and his team is playing well.

Agree with how things look... but good things do come in small packages.
Poor attitude and selfhishness are way way way to vague. As vague as us loosing when wearing blue unis. We blame the unis and not the team ignorantly.

JB is a grumpy old man and he needs to change because you can't win with grumpy old men. Hopkins is a big coach who played guard. You can't win with a guard coaching bigs. My point is thats just stating obvious looking facts not the results.

If it ain't broke don't fix it and Dion thusfar has us undefeated when we probably wouldn't be without him.

Very simply put. Its nice to have the isolation dribblers KJO, Dion and Scoop that we have. And all three are shooting darn good as well.

Its nice to not have to pass the ball around unselfishly 5 times every possession. Wasting game and shot clock because we don't have the dribbling skill. Thus we pass it around to build teamwork and confidence. Because we don't have guys that can score confidently.

There are going to be teams who do just that for 25 seconds a possession. They will try to put our our offensive firepower and penetration by looking to offensive efficiency while running clock and taking away 20-30 possessions a game.

H&H (HUMBLE & HUNGRY)

I always thought it was HHH?

I don't know. My observations have been a bit different. He appears to be the kind of person that as long as he's having a good game himself, he'll show his teammates some love. If he's struggling, which he really hasn't of late, he doesn't demonstrate nearly as much support. Hopefully, he continues to play lights out and continues to stay out there on the floor...
