As I'm watching the end of that game last night I would only wonder "what if this happens to us tomorrow?" Gulp...

Not happening. Wake is decent and Ville is an uncaring dumpster fire.

At this point I don't care about the losses of the teams we've already beaten. That's important until you get ranked. Now what's important is the ranking of the teams we haven't played yet. If we keep winning, nothing else matters.

I was shocked NC State didn’t run up the middle more. The way Doreen talked in his press conference last week it sounded like the middle linebacker position at Wake is the equivalent of the drummer for Spinal Tap.

A few of us were wondering how Wake could so effectively force us into the run game last week but they did it again tonight. Solid coverage all night long, Finley did not have a great game and had to make some amazing throws to move the ball. NC State has no running game, if they did they would have iced this game.

Good Point. I like our WR's but NC State alone has Kelvin Harmon who is an absolute wrecking ball on secondaries.

NC State definitely isn't as good as the committee viewed them, but Wake Forest is a much better team we beat than we gave ourselves credit for.

I don't disagree with this completely but I also think teams have abandoned really focusing on running it all over us. Clemson did it late in the game successfully and so did Pittsburgh. I just looked at the game stats and in the 4th quarter, just as Clemson had, Pitt just ran the ball over and over. Other teams have kind of abandoned that, or didn't focus on it completely. You could definitely argue that was a result of our defense but at the same time, it's been shown to work for teams if they focus on it, and some teams abandon it too early. I don't think BC will do that, depending on the what the score is later in the 2nd half. If it's a close game, I'm worried BC will be able to control the clock and the game if they focus on the run.

I was curious what happened to Jack Brotzki. He enrolled at Hobart and played on special teams in 6 games in 2016 then disappeared off the map.

I agree with you and am grateful the past few teams we played didn’t focus on the run as much as Clemson and Pitt. But couldn’t you also say that is when Dino/Ward made the shift to playing more 3 LB sets with Shy/Armstrong getting more run?

Rain or no rain, there was no excuse for NC State to lose to Wake Forest especially on a short turnaround.

Agree and Wake had a new starting qb.
That was a bad loss for State.-

Definitely, not discounting defensive adjustments we made either. Kind of a chicken or the egg argument really. For me, that's just the one aspect of the game with BC that makes me the most nervous. Maybe they will focus on the run and we'll shut it down. If that happened, that would really show me we've come full circle this year, between players and coaching.

5 winning seasons in 6 years stacks up pretty damn well compared to our last 6.

Just never understood why he takes so much heat here, clearly that large coalition of players who wanted him as HC were correct.

I just don't understand why there is so much fear/angst about the BC game. Will it be tough? Definitely. Is it a sure loss? Hardly.
