Wake Forest week...

Syracuse Football ‏@CuseFootball
"Don't worry, just go play. Be the guy we recruited." @Coach_Shafer on QB Eric Dungey making his first start #WAKEvsCUSE

.@Coach_Shafer was impressed with Eric Dungey's "locked in" focus in practice during the recruiting process. #WAKEvsCUSE

"We'll know more about those guys this week... continue to see improvement." @Coach_Shafer on young defensive players #WAKEvsCUSE

.@Coach_Shafer pleased to see contributions from lots of players on offense, especially the line, vs. URI.

.@Coach_Shafer on game-planning: balance between giving them enough "ammunition" without slowing them down with too much info #WAKEvsCUSE

.@Coach_Shafer on not wearing visor: got headache 1 day in camp, didn't wear it the next day, felt good, stuck with it.

They gave up 3 sacks to Elon. Thats not a good start. They can be better than last year when they gave up 45 sacks, but that's yet to be seen against real competition.
I'm trying to find QB Hurries and/or Hits as well from Elon but I can't find them on either team's site. I wonder how many times Wolford was pressured as well.

I can't find it either, but I just noticed something else looking at their rushing stats. Their numbers are inflated due to Wolfords one 70 yd TD run. They averaged 4.8 yds per rush as a group (Wolford inflated it with 9.0 yds per rush) against Elon. Also 1 rushing TD by the RBs. Take out Wolfords run, they averaged 4.4 yds per rush, again, against Elon. If you take out runs from the backup QB Hinton, the RBs on the team only averaged 4.0 yds per rush, against Elon.

Wake's defense was also unable to get 1 sack against Elon.

To build on your point: Extrapolated for 12 games, that equals 36 sacks this season. Not a good start at all, Elon should be the worst defense Wake faces. Our front 7 may be feasting on raw QB Saturday. Wolford will need his running skills against Shafer/Bullough blitz schemes.

C'mon! I just read ESPN and watched their bloggers pimp Wake Forest's O! There has to be some sort of mistake. They are on the rise and we just lost our starting QB and playing a true freshman from Oregon! And that D!?! Top 40!

Saw that as well. Shanker predicted a 17-3 Wake win. 3 points!?!?! What a dink!

One of the things that no one is talking about -- and it seems like so many are crediting WF's defense -- is that they didn't force a single turnover against Elon. I really would have expected that.

I don't know. He does have to live with the name "shanker" maybe calling him a dink is just mean

Listening to shafer's interview - he came off fairly coherent. May have to revise my meat head opinion. Course, if they lose to Wake...
