Why do you - and the pundits - believe WAKE will win on Saturday?

Why do you do everything possible to keep non WAKE people off your forum?

Why is your coach such a douche?

I'm not saying CUSE will dominate (early prediction 24-20)

I'm just trying to understand the love for WAKE this week?

Are there any W(T) lurkers?:)
But seriously; Their qb went 20-27 323 3td 0int(yes, v. Elon)
8 players caught 2 or more passes, 13 total players caught at least 1 ball...

That's also with the number one returning receiver out (injured in the last two weeks).

I am not sure we will. I think it will be a tight game that I hope Wake can win and no one gets injured. Playing in the Dome always scares me.

ogboards.com very easy to sign up for a get on we don't keep people out.

I don't think Clawson is a douche just passionate and vocale which is what we needed in a coach after Grobe quit on us.

This game is very important for us and is definitely the toughest out of our next 3 Army and Indiana and could make the difference in 4-0 and a shot at a bowl and another 3-9 season as our ACC slate is not easy.

I'll know that we've returned to relevancy when "interstate" smack talk returns to this board. Right now, we are all just cannibals. I think Shafer is a meat head, someone else thinks he's Lombardi, etc.

DYING for game weeks when we have sphincters from VA Tech or Miami or {Insert School} giving us the business.

The journalists actually seem more confident in Wake's chances than most fans. I'd say optimism probably springs from our having such a putrid offense last year and still playing teams fairly close, paired with the fact that our offense looked good against an admittedly team in Elon last week. Our defense is headlined by a very good nose tackle, a strong group of safeties, and possibly the best linebacking core in the ACC.

Most fans understand that, despite our offensive output last week, our offensive line is still young and weak and our rushing numbers are fluffed significantly by a semi-broken play in which our QB ran for a 70-yard TD. Wolford did look very good, though, and the talent of our playmakers is night and day compared to last year. I'm just not sure Wolf will have the time to get them the ball. Bottom line- I don't think there will be many surprised faces among the Wake faithful if we lose this game by a score or two. I personally think we're a year or two away and am expecting a close loss.

I'm interested to know why you all think Clawson is a douche. I'm not saying that general perceptions are unfounded--we are definitely familiar with a strong hatred of Coach K, among others, probably without enough real proof points to back up the degree of hate--but I would appreciate some concrete supporting evidence. Coach Clawson has appeared to do everything right down in Winston-Salem so far and has universal support from fans. I agree with Jimmy we were due for a coach unafraid to speak his mind and be bold. I have a lot of respect for Coach Shafer and think Wake and Syracuse are both on the upswing.

Hoping for a competitive, injury-free game.

Our defense is headlined by a very good nose tackle, a strong group of safeties, and possibly the best linebacking core in the ACC.

Funny thing is replace Elon with RI and that's pretty much what Cuse fans are feeling like right now.

I wouldn't trade our LB group for yours but I can see why you would feel the same way about not trading yours for ours.

He had some less than flattering things to say about SU after Wake was manhandled last year. It didn't sit well with Syracuse fans.

It will all depend on which OLINE plays better. I don't expect a rock fight. I think over 50 points.

I have heard that he also likes to negatively recruit and talk bad about Syracuse University to potential recruits that both are going after. Along with the "I don't think the better team won" after taking a 30-7 beating last year not sitting well with the fans.

I think the amount of guys they tried to flip late ticked the staff off.

Probably just disappointed coach speak combined with it being his first season and wanting to set a "losing isn't acceptable" kind of tone. I'd think Shafer would've felt the same way had we won (though more deservedly so), but I don't know if he would've said as much to the media. Wake fans are happy to hear those kinds of things from a coach, though, as Grobe was always so friendly and conservative and into moral victories and playing not to lose. Obviously annoying still. I remember Harbaugh talking about us in a press conference after we beat Stanford in 2008(?).

Surprised that Clawson would be a negative recruiter, though he has been known to go after committed players--and with some success.

Are we sure that Clawson actually said 'I don't think the better team won'?
I've been Googling this and haven't seen it yet.

The closest that I've found is this:

http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/college/acc/wake-forest/article10100342.html
Deacons junior linebacker Brandon Chubb said the Orange (3-4, 1-2 ACC), which was playing freshman quarterback AJ Long in his first college start, should have never been able to score the game’s final 30 points. Syracuse gained 370 yards, while the Deacons managed only 170.

Wake Forest fell to 2-5 and 0-3 in ACC play going into next week’s home game against Boston College.

Coach Clawson mentioned it was an average team, at best,” Chubb said. “So it should have been a lot closer.

I hope Wake becomes more competitive because they have a nice stadium, great parking lot for tailgating and are within driving distance of my home.

BUT, if their O Line is even a little as concerning as last year then this game won't be close. I feel bad for their QB, that guy is lucky to be alive after the punishment he took last year.

It's not whether a coach is successful in flipping players it's the tactics that they use. Negative recruiting doesn't sit well with other coaches.
