He was brutal on d. Covington hit about 7 threees over him and they all got to the basket at will. The wake coach was smart and put their center like 30 feet from the hoop and of course red didn’t adjust

JJ watched about 5 three pointers launched from right in front of him and could, or would, do nothing to stop them.

I told people we needed a center when they put this roster together last fall.

Many people scoffed, and said that's not how the game is played anymore, with dominant big men.

Funny, but the good teams still seem to have 2 or 3 of them who can actually play, not just look big when they get off the bus.

How many games have we lost under Red and during the 'Boeheim Bunch' years, because we didn't have a quality center?

Oh, sure, Jesse Edwards put up numbers after a couple years, but his low post game was always a mess, and he traveled an awful lot when he got the ball with his back to the basket. He was far better facing the basket and attacking with one or two dribbles. And he could block shots, but he wasn't a guy you could count on to close out a game.

But otherwise, that's a big part of why we have been so poor.

I will go to the final home game as I always do.
Frankly, Kyle deserves a good send off for what he has done most of the season

Kyle had a pretty bad game, no doubt. Playing White more probably would have still ended in a L. The defense and rebounding was that bad.

Any alternative implementation of players would like have still resulted in a loss because they are TERRIBLE. Doesn’t mean you should make poor decisions

Kingz’ defense has taken a back seat as well. Couldn’t stay in front of his man tonight. Bogavac worked him last wk.

I was going to ask the King truthers where his defense went? He was beaten like a drum all night off the dribble.

Over all, the coaches showed poor body language and the juicing station was a disappointment.

Red never seemed to understand how to use the bench as a teaching tool.

After a poor effort play, a dumb play, sit down next to me, and I'll tell you what you did.

Boeheim would get angry and bench a guy for the rest of the half, but you don't have to go that hard at the guys if that's not your personality.

Steve Kerr isn't a yeller, but if you don't play hard you're going to sit.

White was 2-2 from 3, had a wicked put back dunk.. then got his ass sat for the rest of the first half so they could get the completely useless GTech forward in to the game. Autry is a poor decision maker in real time. His subs / minute allocation are all pre-ordained unless there is foul trouble.

If you just looked at the stat line, guards had 15 assists, we made 13 threes, shooting 50%, we made our free throws. That would all seem pretty good.

But we didn't play any defense and we didn't rebound, so...

The second cuse Instagram page posted NG scoring 1,000 points he reposted it like 30
Times on his story. Not saying that’s not a great accomplishment, but this is where having zero awareness or care about the team plays in. You just lost yet again. You couldn’t wait til the morning to do that? You did it 5 minutes after the game ended… like I said there are 2 guys that care about the team and 2 guys that could care less. He does not care about the team lol. Be proud of your accomplishment and do it at the right time. These kids I tell ya

I felt like I was watching the Ten Commandments with our parting of the Red Sea defense.

The effort all around was pathetic. They came close to doubling our rebound total.

It was just brilliant of Red to remove Sadiq from the game in the first half when he was hot as a pistol.

Kyle was the invisible man out there and Starling kept banging his head against a wall and yet those two combined for 59 minutes and all of 5 points and 3 boards.

Does anybody make more "after the game is lost" threes as does Betsy ???

Our shooting was very good, too bad there are other aspects to winning a basketball game.

Kyle is the major reason why they are 15-14? Is that the stance that both of you want to take to surmise this season? Put a stamp on it, don’t mince words.

Kyle had two touches the whole game, 2. The system is dumb, the guard play is awful hesitant at times. Toughness throughout is definitely an issue.

Kyle didn’t have a great game. To bag on him for season woes is silly.

Jesse is the best center we've had in ages. He wasn't perfect, but dissing on him when everyone since has been hot rotting garbage is... weird.

We haven't had a center who could defend the low post since Rakeem Christmas. That's more than 10 years.

Yes, we lost because we couldn't get stops, not because of George and Starling. Thanks.

That was my point, but some people can't stop hating on certain of our guys out of habit, whether they play well or not.

I’m not sure about that. George doesn’t defend. He has a lot of fake effort on defense and Kingz is not a natural ball handler to play the two. He’s also been a turnstile on defense the past several games. On great teams they would both be bench pieces.

Kingz is a plus defender, sorry, but you're wrong about him. Here's the latest advanced metrics on that. What you see is that our team defense has been dreadful. They don't try on defense anymore.

Players can still look like they're playing hard when they are hunting points. My biggest beef with this graphic is how in the world is Donnie our best defender? I guess it's because of all his defensive rebounds.

Absolutelyyyyy not. Nor did I even somewhat say that, but nice try. Guess you can spin things the way you want to try and get “likes.” He has probably been our best player this season. Where he does have problems, today aside, is against back to the basket bigs, who go right over the top of him.

Man, you had a whole thread underestimating him and then when he actually had a subpar game try to co-sign what IthacaMatt was saying. Maybe I took your response the wrong way, but I doubt that considering you make it a point to post every game whenever he gives up a basket (literally), like he’s supposed to completely shut folks down.

Lol. I said he’s been our best player all season. I posted every time he gave up a basket? My biggest gripe is the hate towards JJ. He gets 90% of the hate on this board, when we can play roulette as to who deserves it. You’re talking about a track record with 39 posts?

If we have a good coach, SU basketball should be always in top 10 or top 20 because of the size of the dome.

Unless there’s a strong correlation between size of your arena and size of your NIL funds - I don’t think this is the case anymore. Syracuse can turn it around with a good coach with solid NIL compared to other schools, but arena size is not very relevant.

Kyle’s problem is similar to what Jesse’s problem was here. It’s hard to be effective when your perimeter players are constantly getting cooked. Has zero to do with height, but you knew people would go there smh.

He has a 21.4 PER. He has the highest TS%. He has the highest Def WS, second highest Off WS, highest WS total, he has the highest WS/40 and he has the highest DBPM and BPM on the team. His usage % is the lowest on the team of anyone that plays.

Kyle was never meant to be a fully rounded basketball player. He tripled his mpg basically from UCLA (obviously played more at SDSU).

Does Kyle have some limitations? Of course. Should he receive fair criticism? Of course.

With that said, you can LITERALLY argue he is the MVP of the team this year. Not the best player. Not the most talented. But the MVP.
