Even JB in his post game stated they were a little lucky on the buzzer beater, but consider this:

1. SU outscored Pitt 10-2 in the last 2 minutes in a game dominated by Pitt. Great teams don't let that happen, but Pitt did. Pitt is a good team who played a great game last night. SU is a great team who knows how to win when the game's on the line. There's no luck when you consider the consistancy, just a proven track record of winning close games at the end.

2. Zanna, a 61% FT shooter, makes both FTs and Pitt takes a 1 point lead. Statistically, he should make perhaps 1, and under that pressure, maybe none. I'd say Pitt got a bit lucky to take the lead under the circumstances.

3. Dixon calls an absurd TO at 4.4, allowing SU to re-group, calm down and reset a plan under the direction of one of the best sideline HCs in the business. Even though the call was to CJ, the reset allowed SU, and TE in particular, to regain their composure and take a decent buzzer beater shot. Without the TO, SU is in a desperate, chaotic mode at the end. Chances are they don't score. Dixon will never be a HOF coach, and his blunder was THE difference on why Pitt lost a game they should have won. Then again, great teams find a way win.

Yes. It was lucky. It was also clutch. As you wrote, great teams find a way to win.

I think in any game that is that close, the winning team was probably "lucky" to an extent. If Tyler's final shot is off, Pitt would have been lucky to get out with a win. There are so many different little things that can swing a game that close.

As a for instance, we shot 16-19 from the line last night, we shoot 70% for the season.

Clutch but lucky. Less lucky than our game-winner than Florida. Props to Ennis.

It was improbable more than anything. SU was on the road playing against Pitt, the ref's and Vegas. Top that off with Pitt pressing the physical advantages they were allowed but the refs and hitting some huge shots and the odds get even longer. That said we executed flawlessly down the stretch and Pitt just tossed up junk and hoped to god they could get a rebound and but back. Add in a tightly wound coach and a good play by Ennis to get himself a look . . . . .. . not really lucky as much as great concentration and execution against all odds.

I'd say that our play (FT shooting, 10-2 run to close, adjusting on Patterson towards the end, etc.) kept us in the game and gave us a CHANCE to win. The odds on TE's last shot aren't that great. Very tough shot. If you ran that play 100 again times he probable only hits that shot...15 times? Maybe?

I wouldn't say that it was luck that won the game, maybe just...beating low odds. ;)

No. We had them right where we wanted them.

Anyone attend the Globetrotters game at the dome last friday? The were nailing it from that spot all night! Honestly Tyler gathered himself and had a clean look, it also seemed that is a spot he is comfortable shooting from (halftime shot from there almost went in). It wasnt as low a percentage shot as some are making it out to be.
