Watched Rutty vs. Temple

I think what people really want to see are some seam routes 15-20 yards down the field to a TE. Maybe that's just me

Seam route to the TE, whats that? I haven't seen SU call that play since Marrone

We threw a seam to Benson the third drive of the Duke game last year. He dropped it (also called Def PI tho)

Hacket also had a seam thrown to him on the left hash during the GT game that a Def PI was called

I think we have a bit of PTSD causing dissonance between perception and reality

Additionally we do throw a lot more ‘seams’ to the slot receivers that probably take the place of a lot of the TE seems we are all asking for (kinda a seam/fade combo depending on read)

baby steps.. lets see the oline block so we dont need to keep RB and TE to help vs 4 man rush before we worry about throwing to the TE.

The constant battle against glittery nostalgia continues on. (And to be fair, I dream of McNabb torching Miami two or three times a year)

Dino's offense does have the tendency to throw outside the hashes a lot. That is not a mirage. Ive watch games with non SU fans and they will ask me why aren't they throwing in the middle of the field.

There was a great play call and pass to Sharod in the middle of the field on the first play of the 2nd half against Ohio. Went for about 18 yards. If the DB didn't have perfect coverage he might have gone the distance.

I think the pushback is that this years offense didn’t do that a ton in just the one game

We’ll see going forward, but I’d bet the philosophy of spreading teams out is still there, but shows up in different ways

I think the redzone/10 yards in area is the perfect spot to utilize the TEs. Throw the occasional pass to them outside of that area, but outside the red zone I like trying to stretch the field with the WRs/RBs to make the defense have to defend every blade of grass.

In the goal line spot, have two WRs start on the outside to soften the box for running plays, and look to get the TE on a mismatch, either on a LB that's too slow or a safety that's too small. Then also add a read option to the play. I think with our personnel that type of formation could be very good for us

They also hit Queeley on a slant inside the red zone. Or is that the play you're thinking of?

Key to beating Rutty is to not give them cheap points or drives starting in your own territory off of turnovers or special teams play. If you don't let them force 2-3 turnoves and block kicks there going to struggle to put up points. Schiano thrives on exploiting teams mistakes, when teams play him clean there usually in trouble. As myself and others have noted he will also try and throw the kitchen sink offensively at teams with tons of misdirection and trick plays. The Defense has to be prepared for this, I really hope this was a point of emphasis this week but I fear we will fall for at least 2 trick plays on Saturday.

its not the one I'm thinking of. We started with the ball around the 33 yard line. 1st play of the 2nd half, it was a play action pass and TD zipped it over the middle to Sharod running a deep slant. Out to the 50 yard line. It was a great play call and execution.

LOL, I was going to post, mentioning Marrone was going to get someone riled up b/c they see it as an attack on HCDB but I was too late to post that before it happened. We really need a LOL emoji.

Thank you! That actually means a lot from you.

Temple also had success with their RB doing a quick hitch in the middle of the field. He had 2 catches for 25 yards. Seemed to work well.
Unfortunately we don't have that play in our 'playbook'.
