Watched the game at a bar in Rochester tonight.

I love that idea, and wish SU would embrace it. I had a lot of fun back in November 2003 when we played St. Bonaventure at Blue Cross Arena. At the end of the day, what's better than SU hoops followed by a delicious and artery-clogging Garbage Plate?

Never quite understood why SU never mined the Rochester area more. Attended that game and it was packed with 'Cuse fans. Worked at Kodak for 28 yrs and next to the Bills, SU always got the most talk, way more than the Amerks which finished a distant 3rd, except when the Sabers were winning then they finish 3rd. Imo, SU is missing the boat here in Rochester, there are plenty of fans but SU never returned the love.

I was working at a bar in Gates

Interestingly I find support for SU much greater on the east side of Rochester...60-70 mins to the Dome versus 80-90 mins. And...that much further to Buffalo if u live on the east side.

My wife is from Irondequoit...so we get back to Rochester once in awhile

Cuse has a 70-90 mile ring of influence...it peters out after that.

Was also working at the same bar as well. Two of the three main TVs had to be on the Sabres game. ugh. The 'Cuse game was on the third TV which is a tough angle for me to see from behind the bar. Sabres had to stay on though even though they were down like 11-2. Go Devils...Anyway kinda' disappointed by the Syracuse support here in Rochester. Moved here back in April and worried about this. Seems a lot of people here either don't like Syracuse or or just dont care about it. The city or the basketball team.

Hopefully the bandwagon grows as we keep winning. And cheers to those four people, on of them glued to the 'Cuse TV because I bet him we'd win by 10 in the end because we had depth.
Just because people love the sabres here doesn't mean they don't like Syracuse

My Dad was from Rochester. I'm Syracuse born & bred. My view: Rochester = Athens (in their minds) & Syracuse = Sparta. Kills them that the culturally inferior 'Cuse (fewer colleges & less high tech industry) is more recognizable nationally thanks to SU. Of course they gravitate to Bills & Sabres because that is of a "higher quality". (Although they see Buffalo in general as Sparta-like as well.)

And there's your classic Greek historical reference for the day.

And yes I loved my Dad. He was smart enough to move.

i assure you that no one here thinks like that. this is crazy talk

I grew up in Rochester, and the majority of people there root for SU, though you won't see as much outward fanaticism as you do for the Bills or Sabres. A lot of that has to do with SU being private. If SU were SUNY Syracuse, you would see more expansive statewide support. That is pretty much a rule everywhere - when I lived in Asheville, there were 7 UNC fans for every Duke fan, and now I live in Atlanta, and it's the same ratio for Georgia - Ga Tech.
agree on the ratio, but Ga Tech is also a state school - just doesn't get the same support as UGA b/c its a smaller engineering school and not an SEC football powerhouse
