probably the most intense opening 15 minutes in movie history. Wow

I remember when that came out, reading about WW2 vets who had to leave the theater because it was so staggeringly brutal and realistic. And then word got out and a lot of vets just refused to go see the movie in general, because they didn't think they'd be able to handle it.

Oh, and that movie got royally screwed out of Best Picture. Shakespeare in Love? Good call, Academy.

One of the few movies that I've seen in a theater (I hate going to movie theaters). I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but had heard about how intense the opening scene was. I was still blown away.
