Hello Board,

I'm reaching out to you all on the off chance that one of you would like to help a fellow 'Cuse fan (and alum) change careers (again).

In a nutshell, I have an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from Tulane University and 5 years experience as an outside sales representative for Lucent Technologies - exceeding my quota each year.

For the last 10+ years, I have toured the country as a stand up comedian, written/produced on numerous reality TV shows, worked in TV development for a production company, and sold two TV pilots of my own (one to SyFy and one to GSN).

While the comedy and TV work has been lots of fun, it simply hasn't provided the financial security that my family deserves. As such, I'm looking to get back into technology sales (equipment or software).

As for market, I'm open to either Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA.

If any of you might be able to provide a sales job lead that results in me getting hired, I'll buy you beers at EITHER the Wake Forest OR Georgia Tech football game.

And if you can actually hire me, I'll buy you beers at BOTH the Wake Forest AND Georgia Tech games.

Additionally, a job that pays $100K or more will also earn you one apology from KaiserUEO for a previous time that he offended you on this board. Face it, he's definitely offended you... Wouldn't it be nice to hear him say he's sorry?

Please note that I'm making that apology promise on Kaiser's behalf, but I'll bribe him with beers so that he follows through. Don't worry.

Thanks in advance,

~TJ

For those Pilots you sold, are we talking Ted Danson money or George Costanza money?

You don't really get "Ted Danson money" when you sell a reality or game show pilot. All they do is give you money to make the pilot and you get a little bit of that budget off the top.

You start making money if/when the shows actually make the schedule for 10, 13 or 26 episodes.

And then the "Danson money" kicks in if you make it beyond 2 seasons.

I have one friend who sold "Ace of Cakes" and she ended up doing very well as it went for 115 episodes on Food Network.

Another friend of mine sold "Don't Forget the Lyrics" to Fox and, with it's success both here and abroad, he made so much money, he could buy Ted Danson.

I really want - no, I absolutely NEED - to know what SyFy pilot you sold. How close did it get to going to series?

the best show on SyFy is Joe Rogan Questions Everything and it's not even close.

It didn't have a name... It was known internally as the "Untitled Pyro-Technics Project."

It was a docu-series that followed a family-run fireworks business in Adamsville, AL that has done some of the biggest shoots in the country. (WrestleMania, Olympics, Super Bowls, World Series, and other huge events)

SyFy commissioned the project in March 2012. We shot the pilot presentation last October and submitted it for their review in November.

Found out just before Christmas that they weren't picking it up to series. Bummer.

That could be cool to watch. But I suspect it would have been filled with the BS drama that most of these reality shows are full of these days.

"Oh no! Jim forget the fuse line at the shop, if we dont get this fuse line by tonight, wrestlemania will be cancelled!!!!!"

TruTV comes to mind when it comes to unwatchable reality tv shows

Tv shows suck now. Reality tv is the cause for this. I still love you though for being a Cuse fan.

Ill buy someone's seasons tix for a year if they can find me a job in the Syracuse area doing just about ANYTHING for $18/hr or more. I have experience doing everything and im so good at sales that i can sell herpes to a catholic girl. Thats right...i said sell herpes.

One suggestion I would have is Electronic Medical Records Software. The HITECH Act (part of the ARRA - "Stimulus Bill 2009) provided 22 billion for Electronic Medical Records - 19.5 Billion of which is to go to medical providers (not hospitals) as incentive to switch to EMR. There are two programs Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare provides each provider $44,000 (not practice - if there are three providers then 3 x $44,000) to convert and Medicaid $65,000. Which one depends on practice patient demographics. Only about 25% of providers have converted thus far.

Anyway, there are about 900 of these software companies but there are a few big ones. Many in the NE.

I might have to throw a post like this out around spring. Wife wants to move to the NYC area to be closer to family. Cusetroop might need a job.

Resume- I'm handsome. I have nice legs.

Sorry - I've got no use for those qualifications. I don't need anybody showing me up.

What type of tech sales are you looking to do ... I might have just the opportunity for you here just outside Atlanta.

I sold communications equipment (PBX systems, wireless networks, voice mail, etc.) for Lucent Technologies from summer 1996 through the end of 2000 when I decided to give entertainment a shot.

My track record of exceeding all quotas during that time period can be verified as I am still in contact with my sales manager from back then.

As for now, whether it be software or equipment of any kind, I don't have a preference. This guy just wants to work.

I know of a company looking for a pre-sales/sales guy here for a Southeast presence ... you would be selling NAS equipment for object storage conversion ... if you are interested send me a PM and I will make a phone call or two as well as pass your resume along.

We worked for Lucent at the same time. Small world.

Troop, if a guy can make a living in NYC standing around in his underwear and a cowboy hat playing the guitar, you should be able to dress like Sasquatch and perform pranks. I'd pay to see that.

I was rich on paper for those 5 years.

Then the market collapsed and Lucent literally went from $85 a share to like $6 seemingly overnight.

My 401K evaporated... The amount of options I had that ended up being worthless is astounding.

Of course, every other tech stock I was in also crapped the bed.

Good times... Ugh.

Another Lucent 'millionaire'. Join the club. :bang:
