Wayne Morgan

I still think we get Morgan. I don't see the sky as falling with this class but I certainly don't see it the way some do as something great or even progress. It looks exactly like every class we have gotten the past 7-8 years.

bees taking this to heart just for fun compared ESPN rankings
2006 7 kids over 70 class of 22
2012 16 kids over 70 class of 23

2006 we had Carter, baumback, mckenzie, bartholomew. derrel smith, mike williams and Taj smith , most of the class hardly played.

the highest rated recruits on D were Nico scott, parkey Cantey, Matt Reid. I will be disappointed if Washington, manley, davis, whigham dont play and produce better than that group.

on offense we had Baskin who never played, Andrew Rob who had a quick run, Carter turned out better than rated and Sheeran. The gems turned out to be Williams and Smith. Will thompson, Broyld, Morris play better? MCfarlane is rated higher than Carter..

time will tell.

one note OLB 6-3 190 vs 6-2 200 at least we got bigger at one key spot..

Personally, it is tough to know what ESPN does. They give the same ranking to a LOT of kids because they see so few kids, far less than the 2 main sites. Look at the kids they didn't even rate, some have played in the NFL. The class you note, they didn't even rate guys like Mike Williams, Taj Smith, DSmith, etc. They didn't rate Chandler Jones or Rob Long and a number of other kids. It seems like each year they rate more and more kids. Maybe that is because they are putting more resources into recruiting or using others to rate for them. While the 2 main sites arent perfect and the stars systme has holes and doesn't equate to a coaches evaluation, if you look at a whole body of kids over several yars, there has to be some value to it and this class is just like all the others.

BTW, some people think Ford is one of the best players in this class (He made the East top 100) and ESPN didn't rate him either. They are just all over the board as to who they rate.

I find it interesting that when i ask Bornster and Go Su specific questions they refuse to answer. It is really easy guys just grow some, close your eyes and dare to be great.

Do you think that these kids are waivering because they are concerned about Doug making it past next year Borny? I think it has more to do with the fact that we have poor facilities, their positions coaches have been let go and they may not know and most likely havnt met their new coach. If i were looking at spending the next four years of my life at a school and i had been recruited for more than a year by a particular coach and all of a sudden that coach is gone and i dont have a chance to know who is going to be coaching me i might look around as well. Also i asked you a question in another post about how you think recruiting is going this year and if you think we should be extending Doug and extension prior to seeing how 2012 plays out. As you know my thoughts are that if Doug gets off to a good start lets go ahead and extend him for another 2-4 years. If however we have a rough start i believe we should wait until the end of the season and either extend at that point or move in a different direction. Would love to hear your thoughts thx

First of all, it's really not a hard username to spell. It's bnoro.

Second, my post had a lot of sarcasm because you post the same thing over and over again.

I think Marrone deserves an extension and way more time to build this program than anyone on this board is willing to give him. Should we have gone to a bowl this year? Probably but happens. I would give Marrone 4 years after this year to prove his worth.

In that time, we will have upgraded facilities, be in the ACC, and hopefully have made significant inroads to a lot of schools. I think we will be ranked at some point next year, especially if we somehow beat USC. I think Hackett will become a very good OC once Marrone limits his responsibilities in position coaching and lets him just call the plays. I think Shafer will give us stability for a while as well.

PS. I don't answer your questions because it's really hard to find them when I don't feel like reading a 20 line paragraph with no breaks or spacing.

Borny just seems to fit so i will stick with it. Maybe you should change your handle. Anyway as to English it never was my thing because i run a software company. As to what you think i agree for the most part. What i will never agree with is rewarding failure. Doug failed this year and in more ways than one. On the field we were a joke. With the exception of the WV game and possibly USC we didnt play one solid game all year. Not one. In addition he took a step back in coaching. There wasnt one unit, one area that we improved in. Every unit took a step back. In addition the foundation of the team was also hurt. People can say what they want but if you are even half as close to this team as you say you are you know what im talking about. In short Doug didtnt do anything that would suggest he is worthy of an extension. My point is that the program comes first. Any coach is a means to an end. If they perform they should be rewarded. If they fail not. Basic 100 on how to run a company. Why some feel that Doug because he is an Alum and bleeds orange should be given some special treatment is beyond me and if you know and speak to Doug it is beyond him as well. The bottom line is he needs to have a solid year. Not a great year but solid. If he has a melt down he is done. For my part i want him to do well because i believe he is a very good person he bleeds orange and he would be a lifer. Still the program comes first and he has to earn it.

Changing the CEO of a company every 3 years does not mean your company is doing well. I don't care if he is an alum or not. Stability breeds success.

Isn't it a testament to the caliber of players that the staff is courting that other "name" schools are making a push? I can't blame and would encourage a 17/18 year old to be absolutely positive of their choice and investigate any other possible destination of interest... This sets a foundation for their decision and helps to eliminate potential regret (from used car salesman) that can be disruptive to the program during their tenure at the school. Bottom line... you want kids that want to be here and are fully committed to the program!

Lets see how it all shakes out come Feb 1st

The facts are all of these kids with the exception of the Jucos have been recruited by position coaches who are no longer with us. Sure Tim is still on staff as is Shafer but my point is as fickle as an 18 year old can be any change can become huge in their minds. I will agree with you on Manley but on the other guys the coaching change could be a factor. As i said i still think we land all of them with the exception of Owen who i really think was influenced by distance and weather. What is your take? thx

You made statements that are completely false to support your argument, and you're calling me out?

If you exclude Manley and Owens, what other guys are left? Brantley and Whitehurst. Whitehurst has been continuing to look around since September. So we can dismiss the coaching change as a cause for a "sudden" opening up. You're down to Brantley. Some trend.

So what's your point. Are you saying Marrone shouldn't make changes to his staff because it may effect a single recruit?

By that theory Hackett is bullet proof considering he is currently the position coach for the two 4 star recruits in this class.

I never said that Doug shouldnt make changes to his staff. I tried to make my point simple for you. When a position coach is fired it can have an influence on the kid he has been recruiting. Agree?

That's not the "simple point" you tried to make. Let's be clear what you said,

now you're walking back to what is obvious instead of implying that they mismanaged the process leading to multiple kids looking elsewhere.

I thought this thread was about Wayne Morgan

Yep just read an article headline that says Penn State is too late!

I think that was Garcia's doing and not Morgan's text.

Wait... so the report about Marrone at the Ravens facilities trying to flip Ray Rice was a hoax?

No offense to the new coaching regime at PSU, but any kid(or parent) that would invest their future over the next 4-5 years in a program in turmoil, can't be seriously evaluating all the circumstances that are or will be evolving. The trial will be ugly and will cast a pall on the program, win or lose. This will not be the traditional PSU high esteem, well regarded power program. This is a toxic situation that will take years to correct, unfortunately for the kids who play the game there.
