Ha, you can find many posts of mine mocking the mockers of the whole mid major thing. It seems like an inferiority complex from those people, often enough. Even before a couple of notable former conference foe MM's started polishing their titles belts. I havent seen it as much this year, maybe theyve learned their lesson. :)

It will be nice when we can talk about our current status more than mocking others, no?

It'll be on the cover of their media guide and UConn's. Too many of these games are dumb. We are horrid which doesn't help matters. Chris Mullin gets to go for the hat trick.

It'll take Georgetown a half dozen games for 26K to see them play.

What's on the cover of our media guide? A big Monmouth win?

Somewhere along the way we'll win something.

The point is this - we play in the best conference in the country. Obviously UConn and GTown are historic programs (SJU as well) coaches by guys who have had great success against us. We are in a position that UConn in particular would trade anything for and Georgetown is still coached by a Thompson. And we do the Big Ten thing and some random one off in Brooklyn this season. It seems needlessly taxing to run through that then the ACC schedule.

And like most people here, I am stunned on how bad we've looked in all 4 of those games.

I've always hated that rhetoric. Right now we are the mediocre program. Also UConn has far more titles than us. Every game against UConn and Georgetown is important. We Syracuse fans have a superiority complex that simply doesn't make sense. We are a great program in decline at the moment.

Would they trade it for their last title belt, the one they won as a "mid-major"? Would Cuse fans trade their conference for that title belt? Which is more important to people? I find that question worthy of it's own thread, but we're already here.

I'd trade a kidney and one testicle for another title. You only need one ;)

We've had a bad stretch of games, decline is too strong a word. Same thing said las year and we played into April. We're also cashing 20 million plus dollars in ACC checks that is greatly helping our infrastructure. Every game regardless of opponent is important.

Let me rephrase, we are in a short term decline. Being in the ACC with our facilities, we should never fall to obscurity. With that being said, my point was that we shouldn't feel superior to others with the product we have on the floor. The UConn comments are the most baffling, they have 3 more titles than us.

I guess all we need to do is slide into the tourney and hope we get a 15 and ten seed back to back. And have someone go ballistic for a five minute stretch. Tyus is probably up for it.

Then we can erase all the memories of poor play and ignore everything else that's wrong and say we're elite.

We suck. They suck. The Dome experience sucks. College refs suck. Being in the ACC sucks. The selfish Big East bball onlies suck. The level of play in college hoops sucks. During a timeout I've got to listen to a few different idiots singing Backstreet Boys songs. Good God. Awful.

I'm miserable right now.

People going on about the ACC and not falling into obscurity... Arent there any ACC basketball programs that have been rather obscure? I dont think the ACC, as great as it IS, is a guarantee for some of the things some people seem to be assuming. I respect their opinions, but the chickens have seemingly started to come home to roost, or some other saying like that.

Alcohol or other hard drugs of your choice may be beneficial right now. Misery sucks, and the early part of this season seems to be full of it, and rather unexpectedly. Now that it's not unexpected any longer, folks would be wise to look into whatever coping mechanisms you prefer. Meditation and/or music are good, along with exercise. Stimulants and internet porn also seem to be a good combo for passing time and taking your mind off of matters youd rather not dwell on, from what I have read.

It's not a guarantee of course but it gives a school a much better chance across all athletic programs. When Pitino had UL in C-USA he said they couldn't get certain kids because the appeal of the opponent wasn't there. Add in the gobs of money it all helps.
