We got one vote in the new Coaches poll

I am shocked our SOS is only 34th.

In comparison Cal has the #1 SOS...Their schedule:

@UNC
Weber St
Ole Miss
USC
@Oregon
@Washington
Washington St
Arizona

On paper it may be tougher, but I think ours was actually harder. They just don't have multiple teams weighing it down. CCSU, CMU, and MTSU all being in the 100's really hurt out overall number.
Our FCS team is a bad FCS team that hurts our SOS.
Central Michigan and Middle Tennessee are typical SEC type opponents.
The Syracuse road schedule is crazy.
Our easiest road games are going to be Florida State and Louisville which is crazy.

They actually turning out alright

Possibilities:
Former SU Staff
Major Applewhite, Houston; someone posted that he loves us
Tim Lester, Western Michigan; throwing a bone to players that he recruited

Coaches Who Played Us (could legit believe we are top 25 or have selfish motives for their own team's perception)
John Bonamego, Central Michigan;
Dave Doeren, North Carolina State;
Pat Narduzzi, Pittsburgh;
Rick Stockstill, Middle Tennessee; favor to FHCSS for his old players
Dabo Swinney, Clemson; in his best interest to help their SOS for playoff consideration

Conference Mates
Larry Fedora, North Carolina;
Jimbo Fisher, Florida State; in his best interest to help their SOS for bowl consideration, since we play next
Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech;
Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech;

Another example...Georgia has the #2 SOS. I don't care what the numbers say. This schedule is not harder then ours:

App St
@ND
Sam Houston St
Miss St
@Tennesee
@Vandy
Missouri

Only really tough game was @ND.

The bottom of our schedule is really hurting the overall strength.
Is the SOS ranking based on who we've played so far or the whole schedule? If it's the latter, FSU, LSU, and Louisville underachieving has dropped it a bit. However, I don't get how those schedules you posted can be 1 and 2.

Might be overthinking it, some coaches just hand their ballots to other people to fill out, some don't even care.

As long as we think we're Top 25, that's all that matters. Right gang?

*ducks for cover*

In all seriousness, we ARE one of the best 25 teams in the country through 8 weeks.
