I know it has not been pretty, but I am going to give the coaches a chance to coach and learn before becoming too upset. Alot on this board are flipping out and raising their blood pressures over a game of football. I become upset, but in the end, it is a game. No kicking the dog or yelling at the wife here.
I laugh when I see people arguing or comparing who is the bigger Syracuse fan. We are all Syracuse fans, hence the Syracusefan.com name.
Let's sit back, let the coaches do their work and enjoy the NFL games today.

SmilinBob, I like the optimism. I once used to let these things bother me. When my teams lost a game, I would go to work frustrated the next day. Although I had no control over what took place on the field, I would let it get to me.
A friend suggested a book called "Don't sweat the small stuff... and it's all small stuff". I read the book and it helped tremendously. There are a series of "Don't sweat the small stuff" books. I have two of them and love them. My wife appreciates them, but has yet to read them.

I have my moments but I get over them pretty quickly. That game last night just kind of kicked the wind out of my sails early and I just watched in a daze like stage...no cussin no nothing. We were beat by a better team.

Because women don't sweat the small stuff.;)

My expectations for this year are a bowl game to keep momentum going. Starting off 0-2 is a lot more to overcome when we have FSU and Clemson on the schedule. That's probably 2 more losses right there which means we need to go 4-2 in the rest of our games. That's doable, none of the remaining 6 teams are any better talent wise than us but our coaching staff better figure this out fast.

I'm (foolishly) counting the next 2 games as wins. Probably not a given at the moment.

I see where you're coming from...I'm counting on them as wins as well.

We'll really screw up the ACC if we beat Clemson after what we just did vs the Big 10.

I'm an extreme optimist and wasnt irrate last night as much as disappointed.

At this point expectations have been tempered and I'm just hoping we don't do something stupid against Wagner or Tulane. I already feel bad for the kids over the crowd turnout for those games.

Agreed...I think we have a lot of things going for us here and some tweeks and recognizing situations when they happen an not preassuming them is what is most needed from the staff and players.

Loving this thread. Common sense, reasonable expectations and optimism.

I think we win the next two by 17+. If Drew doesn't get better in the Wagner game - could be interesting. There are a lot of winnable games left. I feel better about Gtech than I was. Our run D is really good. Our DBs might be out of position some, but the tackle well. Loved the one man goal line stand by Reddish last night (Colter made a great play to get the ball over).

Get better, work out some kinks the next two games - show some improvement vs Clemson - get ready for the mediocre ACC teams.

I still think we go bowling.

Sure, same record as last year (and 0-2 in first two games was not unexpected).

But last year we had our best player (Pugh) come back and lead the upswing. Offense showed a lot more at this stage, last year.

To win 6 (certainly possible), the QB play has to improve; and the D has to show that yesterday was not typical of anything. Certainly made NW's QBs and Tony Jones look like all-stars. Maybe they are.

We as fans should count the next two as wins...the players and staff shouldn't. Finishing 6-4 is still possible.

Well we started 1-3/2-4 last year so I'd say we should be 2-2 which is better.
We will be 2-3 going into Raleigh so the NCST game will be huge. Need to have things in sync before that game.

Absolutely true. Of course this year, we are only just beginning to see what some of our young playmakers are capable of doing. Guys like Broyld, Estime, and Morris are just getting started. And Smith has not really been fully utilized yet. So while it may not be like last year, as you point out, it also presents some possibilities for improvement. And our staff has to benefit from the experience as well.

and ncst was lucky to escape richmond last night. all hope is not lost. we gained more yards last year vs NW without Pugh so he didnt totally change the team. we still struggled several game with him even in the wins..

Remember they were saying that we were the best 0 - 2 team in the country after losing to USC & NW last year. We have major issues at QB, in the secondary and on the O-line but I think we can correct against Wagner and Tulane.
Liked how we performed in the 2nd half yesterday...

we're in the 90s on offense and the 100s on defense. that's gergian

Common saying -- alums will forget the September games if you beat your rivals in November. We have some depth and a few young guys who can emerge over the season. You mention the young playmakers -- easy to mention a trio on the defensive side who can have larger roles in the rotations (Whigham, Thompson, Johnson).

Wonder how creative our coaches can be with the big guys on offense. Palmer got his feet wet; as did Moore at TE. Maybe Lasker can work into the mix. I know the coaches like to keep the OL intact if it is working well, but this may be time to take a hard look.
