The more I watch college football, the more I think you need a running QB to succeed. Unless you have a five star linemen, you need a QB who can make a play with his legs occasionally. In our glory years we had QB's who could run as well as pass (McPherson, McNabb). Of course, there have been some exceptions (Philcox comes to mind), but generally speaking, when we have had pure passers (ala Billy Scharr), we have not fared well.
I was making this point to a co-worker of mine who is a VT alum. When they had Druckenmiller and Glennon types, they struggled. When they had Vick, Tyrod Taylor types, they did much better. Their current QB beat Miami on a 26-yard run this year.
Nassib reminds me a lot of Drew Brees without the accuracy- A weak-armed QB who needs to be precise and have well-timed routes to succeed. Granted, he tried to run several times against USF, but he went down easily and never made any big gains. When Daniels took off, he had the chance to take it to the house a few times. Then the fakes at the line create more holes because the defense isn't sure who's running with the ball. The TV cameras were even faked out a few times. Think about our last three losses- How many times were we victimized by a QB run?
I don't know if any of the other QB's on the roster have running ability, but if not, I think that's where we should focus our recruiting efforts.

The QBs on the roster have some running ability (Hunt, maybe Kinder) but are way behind Nassib in other areas. Broyld (at Milford this year) is a big, tough runner -- big enough to be a candidate for other positions.
If you watched VT v Ga Tech the other night, you know we need a big upgrade in several areas to compete in the ACC. Both had QBs who could run, but they also had elite RBs and linemen who will be playing on Sundays.
