I have no idea how anyone feels like we could give any type of evaluation of what kind of team this will be next year. Lots of typing has filled this site yet we don’t know the actual defense the team will play. I’m going to sit out any further speculation until November. We need continuity. The biggest issue we have had is keeping guys on the team under JB and having to keep restarting building a roster. I still think we get another player, but looking at past great Syracuse teams we got good getting old and keeping guys so I think it's smart we aren't doing a mass rebuilding of the roster.
Scoop, Arinze, Rautins, Kris Joseph are just some examples of guys that didn't look like much as freshmen, but ended up helping us win a bunch of games.
I think we should trust Red's judgement here. 16 of the 20 starters in the FF were with their teams multiple seasons and Hawkins was the only top 50 HS player.

We need Quadir to get some type of shot inside like Pace had and he could be the same type of glue guy.Brown and Benny I think are gonna make a big jump. Quadir to me is a point forward and has a strong frame that if he can add 10 more lbs of muscle himself can mix it up. One more guard (Bradley) and then either a Bruiser or a defensive specialist at wing
If the latter then expect more time with smaller lineups I would think
It's the same team as last year except we traded JGIII for JJ. Same subpar forwards.
So that and playing more m2m and less zone is supposed to add a bunch of wins? I'm skeptical.

Optimists: "Sophomore leap!"
Realists: we'll see what the actual results/productivity brings and them it speak for themselves.
Look how much Jesse improved this year. Now imagine Benny Bell Brown Judah Taylor Copeland Himma all improve. Combine that with a D that leads to a more transition up and down style of play and i personally can see us winning 5 or more games next season over this one. It's the same team as last year except we traded JGIII for JJ. We can play a very uptempo style with ball pressure if we get everyone to stay. We can do a lot more defensively with JJ and not Joe. I think a 2 or a 3 that shoots well and is good rebounder and defender would be ideal. If Taylor and or Bell do that for us we will be fine.with the roster as it currently stands we need to hope that the "biggest growth is between Freshman and Sophomore year" adage is indeed true. The league cannot be worse than it was last year, and we are basically, at this point, trotting out the same team that we did last year minus the best shooter.
I believe AA will do very well, but running back the same team with JJ rather than Joe would not be keeping me up at night if I was an ACC competitor.
What’s the fun in that?Honestly

Jesse is coming back?
I’m not worried at all, as long as Judah comes back. Judah and JJ will be a lethal backcourt. I’d like to see us add an athletic wing like Chance. His upside is big. And maybe one more guy if it’s a talent upgrade from our other forwards. If Judah doesn’t return, then we need to land Bradley. With Jesse coming back, this is shaping up to be a pretty good team.
I still think we're going after another player, maybe two, if we want a center who can score offensively, like the kid from George Mason.
I would still like to see a wing who kills it from three, and can rebound well enough to get 5 or so a game.
Then I would consider us a potential Top 25 team (I'm assuming Judah is back for one more season).
Who would be your choices for our last two scholarships - assuming Judah comes back?
I’d prefer better talent than continuity. The talent we’ve had hasn’t been good enough. Maybe they’ll all make big jumps but that may be a pretty big ask.We need continuity. I’m talking about Hicks the S&C coach.to which school? has there been an announcement?
Every returning wing found themselves a healthy DNP at some point late in the season so that’s the improvement they showed in season.I’d prefer better talent than continuity. The talent we’ve had hasn’t been good enough. Maybe they’ll all make big jumps but that may be a pretty big ask.
Players who haven't produced as freshmen produce is sophomores every year. We do not know how good some of these guys could be next year. Chances are they SHOULD improve next year.Every returning wing found themselves a healthy DNP at some point late in the season so that’s the improvement they showed in season.
I don’t think we’ve won it stayed within 20 points of the opponent the games Williams had put up good numbers.
These guys are a nice bench and I’m happy with them as 7-10 in the rotation but we need to get a proven starting 5.

"keeping guys on the team under JB," that was another era. We are living in a new world order. Yes, keeping a core is important, but there are 1365 currently in the portal. The math says that comes to 3-5 guys per team transferring. Adding even a minimum of 1-2 every year looks like the new norm. K-state went from the bottom to elite eight with eight new guys, FAU and SDst each with 2-4 transfers? The other interesting factoid from the FF was that this was first FF w/o a McD guy and first without a consensus top 30 recruitWe need continuity. You're always going to have to supplement with transfers, but 4 out of 5 of UConn's starters were guys they recruited and 3 had been there multiple years."keeping guys on the team under JB," that was another era. With Benny and Bell returning it's likely they were told they're starting at the forward spots. That means the likelihood of landing a top notch forward in the portal is very slim since they would be looking for a starting role and big minutes. With Jesse coming back, this is shaping up to be a pretty good team.

At this point it should be a competition between the 4 guys that played there last year. Probably add Copeland and whatever guard we get in the portal to that mix as well.I'd be surprised if they both were promised to start with Maliq still on the team. I think Autry would have reassured them that they will both get lots of court time, but I still think this team needs another .
