We open as a 4 point underdog

2020 and 2021 were two completely different games with the same end result.

2020, we had Morgan playing QB as a true freshman. Never really had a chance. Eventually the D just wore down.

2021, on Lamar Jackson day, Louisville just came out throwing, big play after big play. Offense couldn't do anything, and by halftime, both teams had mailed it in.

2022 won't resemble either game. If, for some reason it does, we need a team shrink or an exorcism before playing Louisville again because it's clearly mental.
The similarity would be that both those years the Syracuse offense couldn't generate. One year we had Morgan, the next year we had an injured Shrader

What i don't like about this game is that unless our punting has improved considerably, we will give up 10 yards each change of possession. When we had great punting, we would own this aspect of each game and it kept us in games. It's hard to play the field position game when your punter shanks half his kicks and is lucky to gain us a net of 20 yards. I'm shocked that after the spring game Dino didn't go all out and bring in a couple of more kids.

There’s a chance we just roll them. They are probably over-confident, much of the roster and the HC haven’t played here, they are not as good as they’ve been against us, the D is not great, they haven’t seen the CNY-BYU offense with Tucker, etc.

I honestly think we’re the better team. May not play out like that, but if the ball gets rolling downhill?

I hope this is how it plays out. No one has any idea really how this new offense will flow game 1. That 4 pt spread is a Vegas zone spread. I see LVille 38-21 and I could see a Syracuse 38-21 game. I think the key with this one will be operational. Who is running their stuff better out of the gates.

There were some crushing turnovers two years ago. In 2020 at 6-0 Nykiem Johnson fumbles a kickoff at the 30 yard line and it blows the doors open. 6:00 minutes left in the 1st half and we were playing pretty decent even with Morgan in. Turns into 13-0 when it should have been our drive. Then we take the kick move the ball to their 49 and don't convert a 4th down. Louisville throws a 40 yard pass to make it first and goal and they punch it in with a minute left in the half. 20-0 just like that.

After 20-0 we again fumble the ensuing kickoff but got lucky that Cunningham was picked at the Syracuse 7 yard line.

In 2021 Louisville scored Touchdowns on 5 of their first 6 possessions.

We went 3 and out on 4 of our 6 possessions.

16 penalties in the last two games to. I'd like to see improvement on the penalty front. TOOOO many false start which are just killers.

Aye, look at the Louisville games sans ours from last season. Our game made zero sense.

Yeah, I posted that the other day. It was a complete anomaly from the rest of their season. I get fooled into thinking they're so incredible. Then Kentucky comes into Louisville and blows the doors off of them, goes up 45-7 before a couple late garbage time TDs.

Kentucky was good, but not that good.

Not going to matter. We're not punting.

Regardless of the outcome, this game will be a good indicator for the rest of the season!

Remember that bogus "targeting" penalty they called on Mikel because he hit the guy in the hip?

The past is the past men, SU needs to start winning and I truly believe they will. This team and staff have a different vibe. Now that Gilbert is gone I feel that the offense is going to be a scoring machine week in and week out. And we all know what Tony's D can be like when they are not on the field 75% of the time.

We're not punting. Actually if our punting is still piss poor we shouldn't ever.

That said lot's of kickoffs, majority onsides

Can’t wait to go to PA tomorrow and place a bet on this game
Do they have digital gambling or do you have to go to a casino cuz I literally can see the sign from my window and FanDuel won’t let me

Only onside kicks if you want to give the opposing team a short field 85% of the time
