We should’ve won today

Oh my god, you people are impossible. From 2012 to 2016 we had a first round pick every year. We went to the final 4 again on a surprise run in 2016.

By your definition we’ve never been elite. So pick whatever adjective you’d like to describe it. We need to get back there.
Your ignorance on display here has been *chef's kiss*

Why did we foul at the end?! We were down two, 4-6 seconds would've been left if we got a stop and we could've ran down and scored. But Instead we foul their best FT shooter?! Like What
Bc no guarantee you get the rebound assuming it isn’t a make anyway, and without a timeout you’re basically then hoping for a heave at best. I’m absolutely fine fouling but it has to be a little more thought out. Be more aggressive for a steal and get the ball into the hands of someone else.

If the other team plays the situation out right, and there's say a 5 second difference, they can shoot with 1 on the shot clock (so say 6 seconds left), ball is in the air for a second or two, hits off the rim, another second or so, then you need to secure the rebound and get it up court and get a shot off. In the NBA, with a time out (so you can advance the ball), maybe you can do it with a 4 or 5 second differential. In college, I really think around 6 or 7 seconds is the shortest amount of time you can leave. (Especially since college ft shooter are worse than NBA).

We are dealing with college players here, so it's no guarantee they play the situation out right. But thats why I think you need to pressure the hell out of the ball, maybe you get a steal, maybe you get them to shoot early, etc.

This is maddening to read.

A lot of you made up your minds about Red, completely neglect all the defensive rotations (coaching), some good offensive looks against the best defensive team in the country (coaching), and every other positive aspect his coaching had tonight. And are solely focused that he must not be “coaching” then to have more shots fall.

Yeah, we lost. It sucks. We didn’t make FTs. That’s frustrating as hell. But we just took one of the best teams in the country to overtime without our best player and probably should have won.

I’m not a moral victory guy, this sucks. But big picture this team could be very good. Can we stop with the fire the coach commentary and right now and talk some ball?
Yes. The collective board consistently makes a fool of itself. Whiny and nonsensical is no way to go thru life.

I love how you didn’t read my prior comment detailing 2008-2014. It’s magical.
After you whined about "late game" failures in a game cuse closed on 11-0 run and then broke out the tired rant about you're just jog going to take it anymore, I think we all started skipping past your comments honestly.

Ooooooookay. Well, I—for one—hope that we beat Kansas. I figure we’ll see how we respond. Maybe Red will be the future of this program. I am dubious and last night did nothing to assuage that fear.

Winning is all that matters. Until We can win games against good teams we will not be considered for NCAAs. If we lose to KU, then we are 4-2 with no good wins...thats not good.

I think Kiyan will settle into shooting the like 70’s this year. He did that in HS so there’s hope for him. JJ and Kyle are another story unfortunately.

That's unfortunately the issue, while I think we can reasonably hope Kiyan will improve at the line, the bigger concern is that the FT problems are across the entire team and essentially at every position. Kyle being a bad FT shooter is one thing but when of your guard's are just as bad and your forwards are struggling you've got a mess on your hands.

The FT issues don't fall on Red for sure but we also need to try and figure something out fast, the FT shooting was bad to start the year and seems to only be getting progressively worse and with Freeman out you lose one of the few guys who was actually making them. Starling can't be 0-3 and Betsey can't be 2-4.

It 100% matters for the net. How some of you don't understand that still boggles my mind.

It also matters for like, the quality of the team. Playing a close game against a great team is a good sign! It's not as good as winning (duh) and it doesnt mean the team is good, but it's a good indicator and its definitely better than getting your doors blown off.

JJ is shooting 25% from the FT line... Kingz 33%... Kiyan 44... Kyle 41% which is better than last years 33% lol

Kingz is 1/3 from the line this year - he shot 82% last year.

George shot 79% last year and is 5/8 this year.

Have to assume Kiyan is a much better FT than he’s shown.

JJ is obviously a concern and everyone knows

It’s hard to expect much from Kyle at the line.

Donne is also our best FT shooter, so that hurt.

I do think eventually we will settle down the FTs will come
