We should be good.

Really starting to worry AG is just trying to put together his reel for the NBA.

That is what it looks like, for sure.

Kid has to realize that showing them what you can’t do is not the move.

Pick your spots. He can shoot, is really athletic, and gets after it on the boards. Needs to just focus on doing what he’s good at.

Griffin’s shot selection REALLY needs to be reigned in. Like...really reigned in. He’s talented but good God. He can’t be a decision maker. Run the floor, catch oops and spot up. If it’s not a dunk or a good look from 3 that’s been set up...pass it. Then go cut or something, and get away from the ball.

And Joe needs to be the backup PG who can go off the ball and you ride him a bit when he gets hot.

If those two things successfully happen and we get Sidibe back and he’s in shape to help, and we could be dangerous.

I'm afraid with Griffin that's just who he's gonna be. He's shown he can make 3s in bunches and he knows it, but it would be a double edge sword at the expense of the overall offense. At least he can score though and hustles to get rebounds.

Sure...the Orange were without two starters and got killed on the glass.
Some good performances (Kadary Richmond can run an offense!) and reasons to be optimistic as the team develops.

BUT...they were ahead 65-62 with 4:51 left and lost 79-69.
Not only couldn't they close the game, they fell apart down the stretch.
They were moving the ball so well and reverted to bad shots and some weak D.
THAT does not bode well.

What’s the deal with Jesse Edwards? Does he have an injury that I’m not aware of?

We need a rim protector. He’s like 7 feet tall. He’s a sophomore. Is he capable of playing basketball?

Not at this level right now. Hes the bball version of Summers.

Minus two starters...minus two starters.. minus two starters.

Last year we lost by 20.

I can live with 7 for 18 and some bad shots...if he had like 2 TO’s.

I could live with 6 TO’s if he took good shots and went 7-13.

7-18 with 3-4 horrific shots(that might as well be turnovers) AND 6 turnovers just can’t happen. That’s like 10 completely wasted possessions.

This is griffens first time starting in d1. Let him settle in a bit. Its not like hes having more dribbles off the foot then made fgs like someone else..

True. But also they don’t have one of their best too.

Not for JB

This is true but Harper is their best player and having watched them last year it's a real argument for Young vs Baker as to who is more important. If Young was out vs Baker I think they would really have struggled a lot more.

It is. But he’s a junior and played a lot for a good program last year. He’s gotta find his role, for sure. It’s early. Game 4 with no exhibitions and lost practice.

You can see the talent on this team that we just haven’t had in recent years. If they can find the chemistry/smart and team play, we could be really good for the first time in awhile.

It drives me nuts. We don’t need him to be Olajuwon or really do anything offensively. Just use your enormous wingspan to protect the basket. He can’t do this 4 games into Year 2?

Its amazing how eerily similar the Center position for bball and the QB position is for SU. Multiple guys on the roster but really only one surefire D1 guy for each position (Sidibe and Devito) both starters go down and its clear there's zero game ready depth much less quality depth. Both have young guys flash (Ajak and Morgan) but clearly neither are ready for bug minutes at this level. Speaks to the lack of recruiting success at both positions.

Griffin played well I thought. Newton huge potential. Love what I see from Q. Marek gonna marek. We will be a bubble team again this year fine but huge but next year

Richmond
Griffin
Q (w his jumper established like Brissy)
Benny
Frank

I wouldn't count on the first two guys you listed being here next year.

Buddy will start next year, lol.

This kid needs to play some more. Really impressed with what he's done so far.

I love our freshmen w Benny coming in next year should be back to being Cuse this year will be ok

Not brain surgery to say that Cuse has enough scorers with Buddy back. Kadary is a true elite pg on offense. He makes others better, drops dimes in teammates sweet spot and is long and naturally instinctive on D. He has to start and run the show. Joe can be a designated sniper, hopefully he buys in

Richmond will be here next year. He's a stud but his scoring will keep him around another year. Once he starts hitting jumpers and from 3 consistently then he's gone. Pretty sure Griffin will bounce tho. Looking forward to Benny coming in and the progression of Woody. Lots to like going forward as long as we don't play JG3/Buddy for 30+ a game.

Joe has to accept a changing role that I thought he sort of understood last year where he went from NYS all time leading scorer to the teams PG. It wasnt what the coaches envisioned because of Jalen Careys ineptitude and Goodine couldnt justify minutes.

He has to remember that he is no longer the first option as he was in HS, and on this years team he is the 5th or 6th option scoring option, some might argue hes played his way lower than that. He should probably be moved to first guard off the bench, to either play the point in absence of Kadary or spell Buddy where he can look for his shot as a sharpshooter. He could play either role where his mins are limited and he has good shot selection.

I think his mindset is actually worse than that. Joe was options 1-4 in HS, with the rest of the team being 5. That mentality is really hard to overcome. The worse part for me is that because he carried the scoring load, it appears he wasn't required to participate in the defensive proceedings on the court, so he just continues to refuse to do much on that end for us. It's maddening. His defense on runouts is the worst I've seen from an SU player, let alone a starter.
