We should change our nickname

I've always been lukewarm on having a color as our nickname, having said that it is well known that the Saltine Warrior was a caricature and offensive to Native Americans but it had potential if done respectfully. I think we should go back to our roots, and honor our Native American history here in NY and truly become NY's college team - something like the Syracuse Iroquois would make more sense than the Orange.

Lets think modern terms. The Syracuse Hashtags with a big # on the helmets? How about the Syracuse Drones (have a Drone on a guy-wire flying around the Dome)? Or another thing this area is known for, the Syracuse (Lake-effect) Storm?
Or not. ;)

The Syracuse Turning Stones?

History of the area should be taken into account.

The Syracuse Salt Shakers...the alliteration has a nice sound to it.

Put this on the helmet.

That would have to be the Syracuse Haudenosaunee:

The Dome could be renamed the "Long House".

Perhaps this could work if SU had a scholarship program for the Haudenosaunee.

Which do you want to change to?
The SU Jawfish?

Too orange - how about...

The SU Lizards

Better, but still a little orange-heavy.

The SU Edwards Wasp Moths

Now we're talking - a taste of orange and heavy on our primary colors of blue, gray, and white.
In response to the moth idea, all I can say is "it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."
