Week 12 ACC/FBS Games for Nov 11-15

I think if there's one rule that needs changed in college football it's when a team misses a field goal less than 37 yards (so snapping it inside of the 20) they spot the ball at the 20-yardline for the team getting the ball.

Example: Texas A&M just kicked a field goal from their 6-yardline and missed it and South Carolina gets to start at the 20-yardline. I never understood why that's a thing. I think it should be the 13-yardline where the kicker kicks from just like any other kick from beyond the 20-yardline.

It's always been a thing.

In college football, a missed field goal is treated like a punt. If the ball goes into the end zone it results in a touchback, and the ball is spotted at the opponent's 20-yard line.

Eh, they aren’t terrible. They’re exactly what they have been every season this century… slightly above average. No more, no less.

Notre Dame is a legit Top 10 team.
Yeah Pitt will likely go 7-5 again, considering the rest of their schedule. ND is legit, they are going to absolutely wax us

I know that but I think it's stupid and it's beyond time to change it. Any field goal past the 20-yardline isn't like that. If you miss at 45-yard field goal the ball doesn't go to the 20 (which would be stupid btw, but so is the inside the 20 rule). It's stupid that only field goals inside of of the 20 are treated like that.

Agreed. It's illogical.

not really sure why worrying about where the ball is spotted on missed fgs, if anything the rule of marking it where its kicked is dumber. Much like why do you get the ball at the 20 when a fumble goes thru the endzone and not the spot of the fumble?

Cannot believe a 2 loss Pitt, who has no ranked wins all year, gets Gameday. I hope ND rips them apart in front of their meathead fans, and their meathead coach.
Pat McAfee is the face of ESPN, he runs the show now. I wonder if him being a Pittsburgh guy who can play the heel as a former West Virginia player was part of the decision.
