Week 13 Uniform for BC

If they’re still burning the cleats to start a new year then hopefully they’ll torch the Shafer era uniforms next year with this year’s cleats.

I only had seven years of college so please excuse my ignorance. How does changing costumes every week enhance the SU brand identity? I see Alabama, USC, and even Ped State on TV and immediately know the team. That is what a brand is supposed to do (so I am told).

Furthermore, these costumes are horrid-every one of them. The numbers look juvenile and are difficult to read. The "orange" is not even orange. When we are at midfield it is clear that the orange in the costumes is not the same as the orange in the "S." Perhaps that is why we never wear orange?

Please pick an acceptable uniform and wear it with pride. Stop changing every week.

Finally, if the argument is that the kids like them and they help with recruiting, WHY DON'T WE GET BETTER RECRUITS?

Grrr...completely unacceptable. I am very disappointed that we are going to continue to masquerade as the blue men.
It was either against BC or WV that Coach Mac surprised the crowd by bringing the team out in their pre-Maloney Orange / Blue / Orange uniforms. The crowd went wild and we won the game.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT? DON'T THEY REALIZE THAT ORANGE IS OUR BRAND?

As I was getting dressed in orange for the trip this morning I made a quick check of the board.
Imagine my surprise as I read the blue uniform thread.
I'm just tired of being disrespected as an alum and as a fan of the Orangemen.
I'll watch on TV and write a letter to AD Wildhack instead.
And no annual fund donation, no Orange Club donation until they address this mess.

Wondering if we got a donor or even took up a collection on this board to put its money where it's mouth is and get the 2012 uniforms "sponsored." The money could probably be better used elsewhere within the AD but could be one way of drawing "attention" to the topic and an outlet for those most passionate uni-haters.

Says the guy who has made hundreds of posts on the subject. I don't find it hard to believe at all. Not all fans know the X's and O's of football to really complain intelligently about them, but most fans are aware of what the school colors are.

With our football program in the doldrums, why is the AD not concerned with rallying the fanbase around our brand? We are the ORANGEMEN! That's my school color - not gray, not blue, not white.
I'm taking serious offense to the planned obsolescence of my closet full of orange gear.

It shows that our fanbase actually cares. The unis today are awful. And this comes from a guy who has loved some of the more insane Maryland unis from the recent past. The all blues just suck and it's time to torch them.

I hate the blues, but I proudly showed up - with a kid with a fractured ankle - to watch Syracuse play. You really didn't go because of the uniforms?

I think it's about time more folks around here treated this Program the way it deserves to be treated - as one of the great college football programs of all time.

And our brand should be as cherished as the brands for the Yankees and the Tide and others are cherished.
