I think it's about time more folks around here treated this Program the way it deserves to be treated - as one of the great college football programs of all time.

And our brand should be as cherished as the brands for the Yankees and the Tide and others are cherished.

This maybe takes it a little far, but the reality is that "Orange" and the "Dome" are as nationally recognized as Alabama's Crimson, Michigan's Maze and Blue, etc. Most college sports fans know Syracuse and easily associate our program with these things.

In some ways, Syracuse is a unique institution because it has both football and basketball history, which should allow branding relevance pretty much all year round. Orange should be prevalent from September through April. The Dome is in use during that same time. Maybe a handful of other schools have an established history in both football and basketball.

It's astonishing how bad Syracuse is at branding considering it houses the best Comm should in the world. The lack of consistency with uniforms, retiring jerseys, retiring numbers, celebrating touchdowns, etc., is symbolic of the state of the football program. This is getting far afield from uniforms, but just look at what happens when we score a touchdown - the announcer yells, we have a train whistle, and a bell is rung. It's a muddled mess. (kinda like this post- sorry this post turned into a rambling steam of consciousness)

The whole school is bonkers if they don’t do a 180 w uniforms next year. Team needs a fresh look which harkens back to more successful time.

Nike.
The reason we changed was because of Nike claiming it would help the brand.
Which is funny when our football jerseys aren’t orange enough and the shade of orange blows.

They ruined the basketball jerseys as well but atleast have kept them Orange because JB makes that so.

At least the blue jersey version pictured here includes an orange helmet. The all blue from head to toe, like yesterday, makes me want to vomit.

This is amazing. You based this decision completely on the uniform?

I hate the blues, but I proudly showed up - with a kid with a fractured ankle - to watch Syracuse play. You really didn't go because of the uniforms?

Truly. I may be more color-oriented than some, but when my school turns its back on Orange I feel a gut reaction. Kind of like they're leaving me behind on their journey to nowhere. Sorry, and Let's Go Orange!

As I was getting dressed in orange for the trip this morning I made a quick check of the board.
Imagine my surprise as I read the blue uniform thread.
I'm just tired of being disrespected as an alum and as a fan of the Orangemen.
I'll watch on TV and write a letter to AD Wildhack instead.
And no annual fund donation, no Orange Club donation until they address this mess.

Jake always hated that we were called Orangemen. He tried desperately to change it in the 90s, as anyone who can remember them testing Orange Pride, Orange Pack and Chargers can attest to.

I’m OK with Orange, but our unis absolutely suck. Can’t wait until they’re dumped.

Orange Pack was the old booster organization (before it became the Orange Club).

Pride of the Orange is the Marching Band.

There's already a local rugby team called the Syracuse Chargers.

Considering the result of the BC game, perhaps it's appropriate that a team unrecognizable as the one that played earlier this year dressed as a team unrecognizable as Syracuse University.

We want to be called that because it served us well for decades. Tradition.

Orange was always a great second name. But as a primary name it sounds a little weak like Magic or Jazz or Wild.

God forbid there might be a living being associated with your team's nickname.
