Wegman's Coming to North Carolina

Publix is pretty good. Ranked fairly high with Consumer Reports a couple months ago. Customer service, quality and store condition is typically much better than Winn-Dixie and definitely better than the Pig (Piggly Wiggly).

My son lives in Florida and the weirdest thing I've found when - at least at Publix - is that folks don't return the cart to the store or a designated spot. Instead you are supposed to find the nearest curb and place the front two wheels on the curb. Why this is I have no idea. The other main difference (being from New York) is the enormity of the wine section. Seems to take up a quarter of the store (which is nice).
The Publix that we have in Knoxville don't have convenient cart corrals with the way they have their parking lots set up. I hate when people just leave them though so I always take back to the store or to one of the corrals.

I find Publix in the ATL to be on the pricey side.

Publix has a nice little liquor store in Sarasota that is conveniently located between the airport and the Ritz. Large bottles of Absolut are only $1-$2 more than their smaller counterparts.

Wegmans would do well down here.

Here in Knoxville it is too. They have good sales and we only buy whats on sale. We do most of our shopping at Kroger. They're not too bad.

That's my go-to as well. I hit Sprouts for most of my produce, but if they're out or the quality is questionable then I head across the street to Kroger. Some items are obtained at Trader Joe's.

Of course, my partner in crime is a Publix gal... :)

I'm not familiar with Sprouts, we don't have one in Knoxville. We hit Trader Joe's for few things as well. If you pick the right stuff you get good prices on quality stuff.

Sprouts is primarily into organic and health food. The nice thing they do in TX is on Wednesdays you get specials for the last and next weeks. The stores aren't huge but have a nice niche going.

Sounds similar to Earthfare.

Capt...thanks for posting that...that site is pretty cool!!
Sent a crate to my son in when he was in Pensacola. The boys there loved everything I sent (Hoffman's, Dinosaur, and Hinderwadles' salt potatoes.)
Will send him another when his ship gets back into San Diego so the Cali guys can have a taste.

Not sure if you have, but if you go their Facebook page, it appears they have some type of discount every month...

Think they were in the Top 3-4 behind Wegman's...does your North FL gal like Publix better than Wegman's?
