One of Dino Babers' famous metaphors has been boxing and I think you could look at this season in terms of boxing classes.

We are a middle weight in college football.

Colgate was a lightweight.
Louisville was a heavyweight
South Florida was a light heavyweight
Connecticut was a middleweight
Notre Dame, despite the frustrating start, was a heavyweight.

I would grade Wake Forest, Boston College and North Carolina State as middleweights
I would call Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh light heavyweights and
I would call Clemson and Florida State heavyweights.

If we can beat the middleweights and upset one of the light heavyweights, we could get to a bowl.

I can't put Nd in the heavyweight class, they aren't very good.

they arent all that far away from 5-0 even with all the isssues on D. a missed PF against texas. a few minutes short of a great comeback vs MSU and just some really sloppy play late vs duke. how they have played and how much talent they have are vastly different.

Texas isn't that good, neither is Msu, and don't forget they were down 36-7 in that game, and Msu kind of took their foot off the gas.

those teams have so much talent thought, that they can accidentally have good games.

Sure a lot of teams have talent, thats why upsets happen, I just don't buy that Nd is any good, I think they are looking at a 7 win season at best.

Which is a colossal FAIL for them.

Meanwhile, we would KILL for a 7 win season.

ND = Heavyweight.

They send multiple guys to the NFL every year.
It's not by accident.

ND's offense line alone makes them a heavyweight. Those guys are monsters!

I'm thinking in terms of talent. A talented team can fritter games away but suddenly use their talents against you and i think that happened to us.

Also South Florida is a middle weight not a light weight
he didn't say they were. He put them in his light heavyweight category.
