Sorry if already posted:

Syracuse: Brad Wittke will be the new director of football operations for Dino Babers, and Roy Wittke is joining the staff as recruiting coordinator. Both served in the same capacities under Babers at Bowling Green.

Is Roy Wittke taking Eric White's position? Geeeez, I hope not. Not sure how a guy this age relates to 18 year old kids.

If he will be our recruiting coordinator better get used to Illinois and midwest kids...

Wittke came to Northwest Ohio following 19 seasons at Eastern Illinois.

recruiting coordinator has nothing to do with a geographic region. you're coordinating the entire recruiting effort, staff recruiting areas, compile recruiting lists, prospect film, targets, recruiting events, arrange recruiting visits, mailers/brochures etc, all that junk.

FYI - Eric White's title was the Director of Recruiting

I hear that, but 20 + years in a region means relationships. You go to your bread and butter. While we will certainly target other areas, this guy probably knows the janitors at every HS in Eastern IL. That area will become tier 1 for us, if it hasn't already.

How is he going to twitter with one of these things?

Plus where have most of the new coaches recruited...Midwest and Florida. You recruit where and who you know.

That's not how it works. sure he might get more 'tips' from the midwest but if you're hired as the sales and marketing coordinator for a company selling nationally, you aren't just focusing on the little region where you came from. You're coordinating sales efforts nationally.

It is going to be dependent on where this staff has established relationships. And from the look of the make up of the staff right now it will be Florida and the Midwest that will get the majority of the attention.

That's not entirely true. at some point, people go make new relationships and recruit new territories. (like sending Acosta to South Florida).

But that takes time. Plus they have already been recruiting kids for 2017/2018 for BGSU that fit their system. My guess is most of those kids will be getting Syracuse offers.

Seems like a high quality guy.

And, it seems clear that Dino Babers has hit the ground running - no need to get to know his Syracuse Football colleagues.

Initially yes, but that will change. This new staff is not going to ignore Eastern PA, NJ, NY and New England because they've never recruited there before.

If you're a young coach climbing the ladder, it would behoove you're career to expand your recruiting base.

Anyways, this is the recruiting coordinator we're talking about. He'll be coordinating efforts nationally, not regionally.

Youre right Phat, and I agree with you. I just think that if you spend a ton of time in one area, that area feels comfortable to you. I truly hope that we continue to recruit as nationally as we can, but I also am very confident that coaches who have spent a huge amount of time in one geographic area, have contacts they trust for evaluation purposes, will pull to that area as much as possible for talent. Talent acquisition is an important skill in every business, and making sure you have the proper evaluation's mean having a firm support system. Those take a ton of time to develop, and why I think Babers decided to pull most of his previous staff, and why, Acosta recruited NJ hard, etc. Habit and experience matter.

I agree with you and hope you're right. I only was saying initially that I thought IL would become an even bigger priority for us, and it appears it has, at the expense of GA.

You had me at Morehead.

HOW IS AN OLD GUY GOING TO CRANK OUT THE MEMES. MY GOD HE PROBABLY DOESN'T KNOW WHO KENRICK LAMAR IS. NEITHER DO I, I JUST HEARD HE'S A BIG DEAL

I know you're kidding but I'm thinking Babers got a bigger budget for staffers and we'll continue to employ the Eric White's of the world to keep up with that sort of thing.
