Last Sunday after the Georgetown debacle many of us did not know what to expect during the Big East Tournament. This team moreso than any in recent memory appears to be so mentally fragile and I for one never know how they will respond when put in tough situations. It goes to show how important guys like Scoop and Dion were last year since they had the "swagger" to rally us during difficult times. Beside the final 15 minutes from the game last night, this tournament could not have gone better for us and offered many positive signs heading into the Big Dance.
1. When Seton Hall was raining 3's on us at the start of the game and we were down early, we hung tight and responded with our own barrage of 3's.
2. Against Pitt we did not allow them to be more physical or out-hustle us like they did in our first meeting this year.
3. We dug deep in OT against Georgetown and never allowed them to take the lead.
4. James regained his touch and was deadly beyond the arc.
5. MCW was dishing more than he was scoring.
6. Baye was holding onto the ball was a presense in the middle.
If we continue to do these things we can really make some noise over the next few weeks. Our defense is tough and there is a lot of parity in the field this year. All teams have strengths and weaknesses and anyone in the Top 20 should believe they have a chance to cut down the nets.
