What a great day its like Christmas morning

Thank God today actually turned out the way it did Alsacs. I'm quite sure your heart would have exploded in your chest if they ruled against Tommy Terrific. Don't want you going out like that.
Listen I am buying all the paralegals and associates lunch today. I am so stoked that we could go 3-9*I want much better though) in football this year and I wouldn't care if they kept SS. I am okay if people don't like Brady. I just thought the NFL proved squat and tried like crazy to make Brady eat a crap sandwich they couldn't prove. Brady stood up to them and was vindicated by the first neutral party to look at the case.

I'm surprised you sound like you're giddy that someone may have gotten off due to a bad case be presented. I thought a lawyer would be more interested in the truth.

He can't handle the truth! ;)

Yeah Bees, Brady was treated fairly.

I never used the words fairly or unfairly so you must be thinking of someone else.

People can dislike the Patriots all they want this case was poor from the beginning. The NFL could prove no ball manipulation took place. They ignored science. Hired a firm that said second hand smoke doesn't harm people to give them the results they wanted. Pretended it was an independent investigation. Still has no evidence and gave the largest penalty of alltime. They had nothing on Brady lied about the appeal hearing and acted arrogant to a federal judge that the NFL selected as the venue. This judge rebuked the NFL 100% said you had nothing on Brady during the AFC title game and ran an unfair process.

I figured this ruling would be like taking 4 Viagra for you. Don't wear out the paralegals at lunch...:rolling:

I'm no Goodell apologist, but in this situation he was forced to uphold the arbitrator's decision because Brady destroyed his phone. Everyone asks, would I have destroyed my phone? NFL players ask that question, and then some of them ask, what would have happened to me if I destroyed my phone? If Goodell had granted Brady's appeal and struck down the arbitrator's decision a large number of NFL players would have complained loudly. Goodell had no choice but to uphold the decision and let a Federal Judge decide this issue.

If the NFL decides that it must appeal this decision, then the possibility remains that Brady could be suspended 4 games at some point in the future. I have no idea what the NFL will decide to do. I think most people just want to put this behind us and move on.

Just so you know Goodell was the Arbitrator. He had a "right" to do this but the hearing wasn't fair and they had no evidence or precedent for this ruling. Goodell was owned 100% by Federal Judge Richard Berman.

To your 2nd point I agree, but the NFL isn't going for a stay Brady is playing this entire year and this decision was written so well it will be almost impossible for an appeal court to overturn. This case won't be decided for atleast 1 year. Appeals Court in the 2nd circuit take typically 18 months to hear and the NFL won't be able to get an expedited review.

I haven't followed this at all, but my understanding is that a ruling was made. Brady appealed the ruling, and Goodell was forced uphold the suspension because Brady destroyed his phone. Goodell was in no position to overrule the suspension because Brady destroyed his phone. Goodell knew this would end up in Federal Court. The question becomes, has Goodell been prepared all along to take this to an appeal in Federal Court. If so, this will drag on and Brady could end up missing 4 games. I think that is unlikely, but it is possible.

Goodell thanks an awful CBA for the NFLPA was able to be judge, jury and executor. Goodell "had" Troy Vincent give out the penalty. Then Goodell by the CBA made himself the arbitrator. He "affirmed" his own decision and then lied about what Brady said in the appeal hearing in his decision. He never though that transcript would be unsealed. The Federal Judge unsealed it. The Federal Judge which was chosen by the NFL looked at the evidence and hearing. He determined the NFL had nothing and treated Brady unfairly. This decision was a bigtime rebuke of Goodell.
The NFL is appealing but they aren't getting a stay. This appeal won't be decided for atleast another year. Brady is playing this whole year. The NFL has a small chance in the future an appeals court bring it back but its unlikely.

You can think whatever you want. A federal judge in the NFL's chosen forum just told the NFL they didn't prove Brady did anything and their process was not fair. Whatever you want to think beyond that I don't care.
Brady won.

Saying the process was not fair is not the same thing as saying Brady was innocent.

It's like a criminal getting off on a technicality. See it for what it is.

I don't care if Brady is innocent. I believe the NFL should have some sort of evidence before punishing someone. It must feel like bizzaro world to Goodell and the owners when they find out they cannot do whatever they want. The NFL is too big for its britches. I take great pleasure in watching it look foolish.

I'm a Giants fan so NE doesn't impact me at all unless it's the SB. I always had a lot of respect for Brady. Thought he was a winner like a Montana. No longer. He's just a cheater now that got away with it.

The team has cheated several times now - the spy cam thing a few years ago, the deflated balls, signal stealing about 10 years ago, even illegal formations in last year's playoffs.

Please tell me what Brady is guilty of?

I'll have to take a closer look, but I was under the impression that a lawyer wrote a report and recommended the suspension. Brady appealed the suspension, and Goodell was unable or unwilling to overrule the suspension because Brady destroyed his phone. After all, most people in that situation would not destroy the phone. If what you are saying is accurate, then the NFL made several almost unbelievable mistakes.

Oh just stop. You won. Tommy Terrific gets to play. And someday Giselle's book will confirm that Tommy has weak wrists and liked soft balls.

Ted Wells wrote a report. That report was about the AFC title game. The report never showed Brady did anything in relation to the AFC title game.
Goodell used that report to "have" Troy Vincent give out the suspension. Then re-read my post. Goodell was judge, jury, and executor.

First off I'm a Saint's fan, but I'm on Brady's side here. You're smarter than this bees. Follow the facts of the case. Theres no evidence that proves he cheated. The PSI measurements were manufactured by the NFL and given to the mothership to report. The NFL used ESPN to manufacture the evidence of the case.

Brady could of said that he wanted the PSI to be on the lowest side of legal possible, but we will never know. The colts also had balls below the legal limit in the AFC title game. Why is that? Can you answer? Was it the weather?

By the way Brady(your so called cheater) played better in the second half with regulation balls than he did the first. You can't even prove that deflated balls are an advantage at all. If anything you can prove they were a hindrance to his performance.

Montana a winner huh? How about those passes he threw to Jerry Rice that were caught using stickum? What's worse here?

The destroyed phone was a catchy line in this case. Fact is the NFLPA and Brady's lawyer asked him not to turn over his phone as it creates a precedence. Ted Wells informed Brady that he did not need his phone, and never advised that there would be a penalty. At that point the phone becomes inconsequential to the case, Brady then "Destroys the phone" which has been said to be a factory reset then the phone, which he states was broken was disposed of.

It is sad how ESPN has completely done the NFL's PR work for them this entire case. The NFL HAD NOTHING and but leaked false information SEVERAL times during this case to ESPN and has never disciplined or had the record corrected.

It is so frustrating. If you want to call somebody a cheater HAVE SOME EVIDENCE THEY CHEATED. The balls haven't been proven to be deflated illegally and people don't care about the science or Ideal Gas Law.

Your forgetting the worse thing. Goodell LIED ABOUT what Brady said in the appeal hearing in his ruling. He tried to make Brady look guilty and then figured the actual transcript would be unsealed. Then Berman unsealed it and showed Goodell LIED.
They used the phone just get PR against Brady. It was irrelevant as the NFL has the Brady texts to the NFL employees and they had no right to use phone. Especially since the NFL leaked everything they could to make the Pats look bad.

Right, as the sole judge in deciding whether to uphold the suspension, Goodell was in a very powerful position. I would say too powerful, however, this was a part of the CBA and both sides agreed to this set-up. In that position, Goodell was faced with either upholding the suspension, reducing the suspension, or completely overruling the suspension. He chose to uphold the suspension, and I think the main factor in his decision was Brady destroying his phone.

In light of Brady destroying his phone, Goodell would have looked suspicious in the eyes of many other NFL players had he even reduced the suspension. That's why I think Goodell decided to uphold the suspension and let a Federal Court decide the issue. The question becomes, was Goodell also prepared all along to appeal in Federal Court. And then if so, does the NFL have a good case for appeal. That is where I am uncertain because I haven't followed this, but I do know that arbitration agreements, just like the agreement in the CBA, tend to be considered valid contracts by most Courts.

I honestly hope this case has an impact on the CBA as it stands today. The NFL acted in an embarrassing way throughout this case. I know some non-Pats fans stopped listening once they heard Brady may have done something wrong here, but the NFL really went rogue on this. It should be a concern for any fan, and i hope something similar doesn't happen to a team of any of yours. Fact is most teams have had a player or staff member break the rules, and they deserve to be punished with proper evidence and without having to worry about false information being leaked to the press, to further the case of public opinion in the NFL's favor.

I know we have lots of media people here, but ESPN cannot be trusted as a sports news source. They have too much power. Between this, Bountygate, Bernie Fine, and our sanctions all they have done is create the story.

Was there a phone? Yes. Did he destroy the phone? Everything I heard so far indicates "yes". If he wasn't guilty of texting the staff who inflate the balls, then why would he do that? That's like a guy is accused of murder and is witnessed throwing a gun off a bridge. Why do that if you didn't do the crime?

Why were the Colts balls underinflated?
