What is the bar that Scott Shafer and his team have to clear next season?

My personal expectations 3-1 in the OOC games.
3-5 in ACC games.
6-6 overall. If these expectations aren't met I don't care if we get tons of injuries the SS era has to be done.
A top 75 offense would be gravy.

I don't care if we run the ball, pass the ball, but the offense has to look at least like it belongs in the Division 1 power 5 conference level.

I see an upside of 5 wins but more likely 4 assuming we can win at either USF, NC ST OR VIRGINIA. Ishmael and Phillips are the only players on offense that have me excited at all. Custis and Enoicy would have to blow up in order for this offense to be even average. Still have no QB on the roster that gives me any confidence. This period in SU football is starting to remind me of the late 70's early 80's. Scattered talent but overall roster is below average. Very little reason for optimism.

3 wins. Today sucked too hard

Dunkel will be a pass catching TE in the mold of Nick Provo.

I think A.J. Long wins the QB job and surprises a lot of people. Jumps tend to happen from freshman to sophomore years (especially when they got as much PT as Long did)

I mean, c'mon! Offseason is the time to be optimistic! During the season is the time to be pessimistic!

We need to be prepared for 3 win season based on everything we saw last year. Hope that someone makes a leap like Long but don't expect it. Coaching is what it is.

If we need to be prepared for a 3 win season then keeping Scott Shafer was beyond a stupid decision. I kept saying part of the reason to get rid of the guy this year was to give the next guy a honeymoon year and get the rebuild started. If we don't go 6-6 next year keeping Scott Shafer for 2015 set us back 3 years.

What was surprising about today regarding this year to you? Mcdonald was as good as gone and AE wasn't going to start this year.

I don't have a win loss expectation this year.

What I suspect is that the school will be hiring a new AD and new football staff in the next 12 months.

I know I know. But when you have a significant number of "knowledgeable" SU fans believing that Terrell Hunt's return is a reason for optimism it leaves me a little empty. I really like Long. He is a playmaker but he did have 8 INT's to only 4 TD's. Hopefully we will see that jump. He needs not just more arm strength but to be a stronger runner in addition to good decision maker.

SU doesn't have the money to be prepared for anything else. They weren't going to buy out Shafer after one losing season.

We have the money the question is whether the Administration wants to spend it on football and while the academic people are hammering down on the Chancellor.

I'm with the others who believe we will have a new AD and then a new FB coach after this year.

Shocked if HCSS is back. Great guy, not a great coach. I think 4-8 is the likely outcome. T. Hunt is not a savior.

winning 3 non conferwence games should be easy. Then beating wake at home at minimum. somewhere between 4-7 wins seems doable with 5 or 6 being most likely by beating 2 of the group : bc,pitt,NC State, Virginia

I think the SU-UVa game will be very competitive because both teams seem to be in similar situations. There are times when we look like we know what to do and how to do it and there are other times when we have 12 men on the field giving UNC a first down (instead of punting) that will let them kill the clock because we're out of TOs. A sizeable group on our board didn't want London to be our coach for 2014, let alone 2015. There are vibes that he may get to stick around for 2016 because his contract expires then and we are expecting to get a new president as well. The AD is nearing retirement and the new president will probably want their person in the AD's seat.

I agree with Bees, a bowl game should be the expectation. My god their are like 40 of them. That being said I would be shocked if we get there. I would also say the HCSS will get a 4th year because Im not convinced that SU is committed to P5 football

A surprisingly upbeat take from you.

London can recruit but his coaching ability is questioned. He has gotten at least one if not two top 25 recruiting classes to C-ville. At least your fanbase knows their is talent on the roster. I couldn't believe your AD gave London the 2015 season before the VPI game. However, your explanation about the President and AD change being imminent gave London a reprieve.

We at Syracuse have said we have overscheduled for our team. UVA has to have a west coast campus with games at UCLA, Oregon, Boise State upcoming in the next 3 years. I saw UVA got a 5th yr transfer from UNC that should be interesting.

I think 6-6 is a fair bottom of the barrel expectation. Expecting anything less wouldn't sit right. It's too damn cold to be overly negative.

Is that Brooklyn Decker in your avatar or is that another shot of Arias?
