What Do College-Football Fans Today Want?

realize people want to be entertained. we have huge tv screens at the dome and do nothing of value with them 90% of the game.

More out of town scores. Better Wi-Fi connection, and better pregame atmosphere. Those are what I am looking for. I really think pregame atmosphere is the ticket for us. As much as college football is ingrained in the culture in the Southeast, a part of it is because of the event it has become. You know 6 Saturday's every Fall there is going to be a gigantic party with a ton of energy, and who doesn't like a reason to bring the kids, have a bunch of drinks, and eat some great food. Oh ya, and watch some good Football after.

Thing is... It's the fans who create that event/party atmosphere, and SU fans seem to have no interest in doing that.

Unfortunate.

That can be encouraged by making it easier. Food trucks, bathrooms, giveaways, etc.

Make it easy - less friction.

For example - every time I mention going to a game with my wife and kids - she brings up parking/walking (we have a 6 and 3 yr old).

This is not easily fixed - but it's a friction that makes it harder.

the dome walk/parking is easier than the state fair walk/parking and that seems to get crowds

I guess. I'd love to see a bigger M-Street/Quad scene with food trucks and all that. I'm just not sure that SU fans would embrace enough to get another 5-7K people each game.

Wasn't the point. I think it's fairly easy and worth it too - but convincing the wife? Not so easy - it should be easier to say "let's spend 1/2 day there" than it is.

The main point was remove the friction. We like fan fest in August because it's family friendly, easy parking, etc.

Combine it with winning and they will.

The outreach to the community is inconsistent at times and sometimes hard to figure out. Streamline the info, get better at planning ahead, market smartly, etc.

I dunno - I have hope our new AD can help with all that...

Park at Skytop and take the bus right to the Quad. There are a lot of give-aways there, Dino's bbq, the band plays and there are those inflatable jumpy things for the kids.

Yeah - we've taken the bus before. Missed all the other stuff somehow.

Also - do they market any of that in any way?

I don't know if they market it. I live in suburban Philly so I miss a lot of the local promos. They call it Quad Fest and it starts 2 hours prior to game time. A lot of the little kids like to watch the band perform on the Hendricks Chapel steps with the Orange Girl, flag twirlers. Drum line puts on a good show.

You know what I really want at Cuse games? Variety.

I love Syracuse football. But the games are the same intros, the same ads, the same promotions, the same mediocre pep band songs, the same bad food, etc., etc., etc.
wins---i think the hoffmans are just fine---would like to see a very different quad show by the su band they play the same stuff year in and out

game day experiences in most of the 60's were great before and after --live bands on the frat house porches after games, walnut park packed, huge creative signs painted by the students, etc. bring back a card section!!!!just kidding none of this fits in todays world.---for the creative folks out there what would fit???using todays technology to entice students to participate???----as a more "mature aged fan" i tailgate with family, bring our own music, go see the band on the quad and go to the game. WINNING makes the hot dogs taste better and the bathrooms become great---gotta love the trough express pee
