Coach P had to go. Like fish, things stink after a while. His time had ended on the hill, and we needed to move in another direction. Unfortunately we went in GRobs direction and set the program back several years to be polite. This program was headed downhill and Gross' first hire was the worst possible candidate. We're still hungover from P and GRob, and marrone hasn't really helped his cause with ridiculous losses. Now the jury is still out on Marrone, but I think he is still the right guy. Wouldn't want a new guy right now headed into the ACC.

How about Brian Leonard then if you like Rutgers rbs so much? Kid is in P's backyard in way upstate ny. Was 220 in high school and a state finalist in sprints for track. P made a half assed attempt for him way too late. Goes to Reuters, still playing on Sundays. Little to no interest from cuse. It's not like kids w that talent come out of the 315 every day.

How should he "loose" his avatar? Is it held on by screws and wing nuts? Maybe he just glued it on to your computer screen and you should just hold a heat gun to your monitor for a while. I'm sure it will loosen a bit for you. If that doesn't work, pull really hard with your big bear claws.

Really? Ray Rice magically cures all ills? We were smoked in the champs sports bowl by Georgia tech. The champs sports bowl. Not exactly a bcs bowl. We were blown out by purdue on national tv. Both purdue and tech were mediocre at best. Would ray rice have shot flames out of his ass also? If yes then we would have been better off with the p and d show.

P should have been given another year and any reasonable person, with all the facts in front of them, would agree.
1. retain all those recruits (ray rice)
2. you don't fire a coach that late in the season when there is no good candidates available
3. the AD should be given some time to make an informed decision vs what they see in a bowl game
4. P should have been given the benefit of the doubt with the success he had over the 13 year period (in hindsight, he should have a statue in front of the dome).


Not sure why we argue this anymore. WE KNOW the alternative was bad. The status quo would have been better in 2005. I'm no P apologist but the facts are the facts as of Dec 2004 and whether that was the time to get rid of him.

Another year of P? Some of you obviously haven't been to the Uconn board, he's only in his 2nd season and they are already seeing what a lot of us saw his last few seasons here. His loyalty to Deleone was maddening, the offense was ridiculously predictable. Someone mentioned his last year here we went to a bowl, but what they failed to mention was in that bowl we were embarrassed, badly. I remember Mike Tirico calling that game and man he couldn't believe how bad we looked, he was almost speechless to the point of tears. It was P's time to go, we had some good years, but the last few were really hard to stomach.

We really need to get past P, that ship has sailed, the question is are we still believing that Marrone is the answer, and if not, what next?

I'm past him but it's a fan board and we rehash things to the extreme. I'd rather talk P than the game i watched on Saturday night. P reminds me of good times and the times i was in college (u know when we won bowl games, had exciting players, etc). Yeah P's expiration date may have been coming but i'd sure AS HELL take 2004 again over any season since (that's 8 years pal).
