What is your prediction for Nassibs progression next season?

Ryan Nassib is the college version of Kyle Orton. Decent numbers, decent arm, and manages to beat bad teams. Both guys lack the ability to make a play when things break down. There are two ways to make a play on third down when things go wrong. A QB can either slide in the pocket and look down the field or take off running. Nassib and Orton can do neither, which limits the team incredibly. Problem for SU is I don't think they have a Tebow on the bench.

Funny analogy and pretty spot on with who we have vs who alot of people are clamoring to want to replace Nassib with. I think sliding the pocket is still and unknown since really, what pocket has there been?

He was at 71.4% after 4 games. Not saying he'll do that next year, but if his off games aren't as far off and his on games are a bit more on it could happen.

It's unfair to Ryan to think that he even has the chance to get to 69%. He isn't that QB.

69% is elite level QB territory. Ryan isn't in that territory.

Look at the list of guys with 69% or above this year, the names included are Keenum, Luck, Barkley, Griffin III, etc.

Greg Paulus went 67.7% in his one year as starter so I'm hoping Nassib can land somewhere in that ballpark. He had 4 horrid games which drug his numbers down so if we can get more consistancy from him it could happen. WRs hang on to a few more and it could happen. I would also take a tradeoff of not much improvement in comp % but a much improved YPA #.

Paulus was throwing short passes for the most part. To be fair, at least he was completing them, but they weren't high risk throws.

However, I agree that the improved YPA would be great even if he still hovers between 60%-65% comp %.

Nassib wasn't exactly bombing down the field the last 2 years either. His YPA was around 6.5 both years, Paulus's was 7.11. Of course if Nassib hit a couple of open WRs this year how knows where that number would be. :bang:

A couple deep completions and a couple of long runs after initial contact by the RB will be crucial to what he and the offense can acheive next year.

I hate Rutgers but Shady made some hard decisions by replacing the incumbent starters with the backup. That helped them win no doubt. Point is sometimes you have to go to the QB to shake things up when things are stale.

They are on their 3rd true freshmen QB in 3 years. They flipped back an forth all year. They won on defense and turnovers. That's it.

agree. the only way he could get to 69% is to turtle up even more in the passing game. we don't want that.

keep completion % where it is and shoot for improvement in yards per attempt. that's the problem

You also have to score points to win and the QB has a hand in that agreed?

I think he'll be about the same. there isn't as much improvement from the junior to senior seasons as before that. If the people around him improve, he could get better numbers. If we went from 60-40 running passing to 40-60, that would help him too because he obviously functions better that way.

The best QB will start. If that's Nassib, great. If not, Nassib will be the back-up. I don't believe Nassib will start all games next year. I think someone will emerge...raw or not, that has the intangibles that Nassib lacks.

I dont believe better pass protection and recreiver who can get open are intangibles.

"Drug?'' Really? "DRUG?" Arghh!

Going off the premise that Nassib will be our starter for all of next season so please take any personal vendetta elsewhere.

IMHO if he shows somewhere close to linear improvement and the running game can get back to at least 2010 production (1822 yards 4.1 YPC 13 TDs vs 1445 yards 3.6 YPC 10 TDs) our offense should look competent finally. If we can get 3000+ yards w/ 25 TDs from Nassib and 2000+ yards w/ 20 TDs from the running game we should very much be in the running to win the conference since the defense should improve.

So 69% / 3000 yards / 25 TD's / 10 int's is a somewhat logical progression for Nassib. I'm looking for him to acheive this with 262 completions on 380 attempts.

As a fan what do you expect he'll acheive? What do you hope he'll acheive? any reasoning for it?
depends on the offensive line - if the offensive line stinks again there won't be much improvement

Sorry I suppose "dragged" is the proper past tense of drag.
