What to look forward to

how did the SU basketball "look forward" thread become hijacked as the analysis of a Bills play, who are out of the playoffs.
Unless we're talking about next year, for both.

Well, the thread title simply reads: “What To Look Forward To.” Now, that certainly leaves some wiggle room for interpretation. Supported by the other non ‘Cuse basketball and Bills related posts. ;)

I'm a Giant fan so what the bills have been doing over the last decade actually looks great to me. I will just tell you this. I am a avid Red Sox fan. And no fan base, with me along for the ride, went through more heartbreak than us. And then, we won 4 world titles in 14 years. Nothing good or bad last forever. The Bills will have their day. Hopefully for you Bills fan sake, it won't take 86 years.
I'm a Guardians fan here. I disagree with your assumption.

I can make an argument there. Easier division to win and that gets you in to the field. No major market teams to contend with. And once you get in, back in "07, they were one Casey Blake DP away from getting to the world series and if it didn't rain they would have beat the Cubs.

this isnt football - 1 loss doesnt end a season

i think bc is a bad matchup for red

this team is still alive and will have some good wins in the future

does that mean they make the tourney? idk

but theyre 100% still in the mix
The bolded text renders all hope of thw tourney as moot. If BC is a bad matchup, the team is not worthy.

As a fellow Clevelander and Cleveland pro sports fan, last time I checked, Chicago is a major market. Now, the Chisox may be dreadful, but nonetheless, after NY & LA, it’s the next largest market.

Yeah, but they don't act like a major market. Their payroll right now in 86 million.

Ha…conveniently moving the goalposts.
Well, do you think they play as a major market team? You mentioned NY and LA, do they play in the game like that? Or are they more like the other teams in that division. Cleveland. Detroit. Minn. Kansas City. If they were in the Cubs class, I wouldn't have said it.

Irrelevant. Chicago is a major market, 3rd largest in fact. And, that being the case, they have ALL of the advantages (potentially) that a major market brings.

Okay. It is impossible for the Guardians to compete with the White Sox. You didn't get what I was talking about but that is okay. You see when I was talking about, was that the Guardians can't really compete with major market teams that spend money. if they were in the A.L. East for example, it would be so much tougher for them to win a world title. I consider Boston a major market team. But their market is smaller than others that play much smaller. I hope that clears that up. Houston for example. A bigger market that plays smaller than Boston.

Oh, I get it. You’re the one that said that the Guardians Indians had “no major market teams to contend with.” That, on its face, is simply and factually incorrect.

Edit: In regards to what you additionally added afterwards (per original quote above here) all non major market teams struggle competing with the major market teams in MLB. This is primarily due to the fact that there is no salary cap and therefore, an uneven playing field so to speak. Most would consider Boston a major market team, same for Houston. Regardless, you shifted your original statement to a completely different argument.

Okay. Here is the deal. I was trying to make a Cleveland fan feel better about their blight. But you insist on going on about this. Great. How about this. I'll put you on ignore and we won't have to worry about how the Guardians or the Browns or the Cavs do.

"It's funny how a skunk can't smell his own stink. What irritates us in other people is very valuable. It gives us insight in our own character. I never censor anyone. I try to have thick skin. People only take away from you what you let them. People only upset you because of your own weaknesses. Threatening to ignore someone is clearly an indication of weakness of character. The Japanese have a saying the first person to show any emotion or raise their voice in a discussion loses."

Do what you please relative to placing me on ignore, believe me, it's no skin off my back. But, IMO, it's a very weak arse move on your behalf since it's simply a spirited debate and nothing more.

BC has a ncaat worthy defense that specifically excels at clamping down on 1 on 1 play - which is why i said that

theres more nuance here than bad team bad, good team good

should SU beat BC? yes 100%

im just saying...red's specific approach to BC (or the teams) going heavy iso in the second half, not geting many assists - is especially difficult

its not about rankings ...its about strengths and weaknesses
