It's like a light switch has been turned off since the exhibition games ended.

I’ll be honest. He impressed me so much in the exhibition games and couldn’t believe he left Villanova. . But last year on a weak Villanova team (I say weak compared to the last several years) he started 2 games, averaged 19 mins, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 5 points. He’s been much better then I expected.

His shots aren’t falling and he’s still finding his way in the offense but overall I think he’s been solid. The other parts of his game look better than I expected

He leads the team in rebounding and steals. Once his shot starts falling again he’ll be back to being the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It’s still early but it always seemed like a stretch or wishful thinking that the guy who averaged 5 pts and 2 rebs in 19 minutes as a junior at Villanova was an upgrade over the guy who was all ACC and who JB said had potential to be an All-American.

Overreaction after 3 games.

Hard to get in the flow when you’re in foul trouble.
It’s gonna take him a little time to adjust to being one of the key guys. It happened to Michael Gbinije at the beginning of his junior year. JB called him out in early December after he got off to a slow start that season and said we expected more out of him—and he responded by stepping up and eventually had a very good junior season.

I mean another hot take. If you can make definitive statements about Swider after 3 games then I can most certainly say Quincy has no chance in hell to be an all American the way he’s playing this year after 3 games.

You very well could be right that Quincy probably won’t be an AA this year. Quincy was all ACC last year though and has been a better player than Swider throughout their careers.

And it’s not really a statement based on just 3 games for Swider. He played for 3 years at a great program who knows how to coach offense and develop their wings. We have a sample size to look at and it suggests that it would take a fairly big leap for him to end up being all ACC this year.

The Quincy of the last 10 games last year/3 this year and the Swider of the first 3 games this year are basically the same player. When we played our best ball last year he did not exactly play that well and I wish him well at Oregon.

Swider has 19 boards in 89 minutes this year - along with 9 steals and a block. In 81 minutes QG has 22 boards, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Swider is shooting a better percentage from the FT line and 2PT land than QG. Quincy right now is better from deep, but who knows how long that will be the case.

Oregon just lost to BYU by 30 and QG had 8pts, 4rbs and was 3/9 from the field.

Let’s let both players get comfortable in their new environments. It’s not like QG is playing like a first team anything right now either

My take on swider. Still way to early to decide anything one way or another. But this game can’t be a huge surprise to people because of the player he was at Nova. I’m not saying he can’t be a great player (because he was able to do it in the exhibition games). But his play in the regular season I believe coinsides more with the way he has played his entire career.

None of my thoughts are based on the start to this season. I wish Quincy the best but I haven’t been following him at Oregon. And I’m not making any declarations on Swider based off 3 games for us.

My point was simply that Quincy and Swider both have multiple years of performance to look at to this point and Quincy has clearly been the better player.

For some to say that Swider is an upgrade over Quincy would require Swider to make a pretty substantial leap this year. I hope he does make that leap but my gut tells me it’s probably more an attempt at positive spin than the reality of things.

Guerrier hasn’t put up the numbers people are referencing since last January.

I hope this is accurate. He’s definitely got the skills. Needs a little selfishness, as does Benny. They don’t all need to defer.

He's going to be fine. Played poorly yesterday and got in foul trouble. I like his zone instincts. He needs to figure out how he can score and when. We don't have a lot of guys who set up others, that can take some time to adjust to.

Does anyone here remember Coach saying that whet he learned at Nova never prepared him for what we do here?

Exacy. Quincy and Swider are both adjusting to new teams and new situations.

That makes it seem like a shot at Nova, which it wasn’t. It was basically that at Nova they wanted him to be a spot up shooter and only that. They rarely asked him to handle the ball or create on his own.
