When Was The Last Time You Were This Excited for SU Football?

For me, I don't think I've been as excited to see what we can do on the field since 1999.

Part of that might have been my being a freshman at SU and them coming off two straight BCS bowls, but we had a lot of talent that year (minus the QB position) and took a Michigan team that ended up ranked 5th in the country to the wire at the Dome.

Granted I'm always excited for the season opener, but I truly believe with the team that we have coming back that every game - save Florida State and maybe Clemson - is a winnable game if we play well and stay healthy. I haven't had that feeling in a long, long time.

Honestly? Last year. But I do feel like we're putting a better product on the field year over year. In the next three years I think we really click and start surprising folks. Am excited to be here when that happens.

I am particularly interested in seeing how Hunt has developed and just how athletic the RF and true Frosh are.

I wasn't optimistic when GROB came in, I thought he was a blah hire and he turned out way worse than that. I would say last year is the last time I was this excited, been that way every year since DM took over.

Last year and most years about this time because I'm almost always optimistic (almost) at the start of the season. Last year it was exciting to think Drew Allan might be the real deal, based on almost nothing. Broyld was expected to have a big impact and lots of other players I was excited to see what they do. I'm just as excited about all the possible talent on the team and what they can do.

I'm not quite expecting we can beat FSU or Clemson just by playing well and being healthy. I don't think we are that good yet. I'm not saying we can't beat them but if we played each team 10 times both of those teams beat us 6 or more times, IMO.

2. ACC: Being in this conference has peaked my interest since I live here now and just a change of scenery from the past. Being a part of what has become a power 5 conference and getting big boy cash.
3. This board: Being able to follow recruiting, which I never did before, because it's so much easier thanks to many on this board. I guess just being in the loop in general here has heightened my excitement. With that said thanks to all who take the time to make this board what it is.

Last year, I tend to get pretty pumped for SU football every year. GROB ruined my enthusiasm during his years but I still attended as many games as I could. Marrone taking over the program was probably the most excited I've been regarding SU football in the last decade. That said, I am amped for this coming year and if we can knock off Notre Dame to go 4-0, everyone else will jump on the bandwagon that we've been driving for quite some time.

The ONLY time I haven't been excited to watch SU football was year 4 of Grob. I wanted him gone after 3, even though many bashed me for it. So many P excuses and he is still developing people blah blah blah. I wasn't happy we lost to Akron that year, as a matter of fact it made me sick however, I knew it was the final nail in Gregger's coffin and accepted it as necessary to move out of the Toddler Age of SU football.

Every year I get excited and talk myself into Syracuse is going to win a national title. This year isn't any different

It's been at least a decade, most likely more, when you could look at the schedule and be pretty confident (to an extent) that there are 10 winnable games. Even last year, with a new staff, and some tough games @Northwestern and PSU, it would have been hard to expect to win 10. I had 2015 circled as our "breakout" year for a while now, but with FSU, Clemson, and now LSU on deck next year, we most likely will have an easier schedule this year. What i'm getting at is i'm really excited for this year. Nobody other then our core fanbase is expecting us to win 7+, but I think we are ready to surprise some people.
