When you are in a close game with the 8th team in the Patriot

What's a long year? How about throwing out what that means.

Unranked at the end?
No Final Four?
No NCAA Tourney?
No winning season?

What are your expectations?

People need to calm down...

there's a few very positive things about this team so far.
  • Our depth
  • Our front court/forwards
  • CJ Fair's senior season.
  • The rise and emergence of Cooney, Grant and Rak?

on the flip side, there are definitely some things we need to improve on to be firing on all cylinders come March:
  • Who will be a reliable second shooter behind Cooney?
  • We lost 70% of our 3PT offense with Triche, J-South and MCW leaving. Who will step up?
  • Will we be able to improve at the line and knock down our freebies?
  • What kind of production will we get out of Rak/Coleman?

Seriously...it's 3 FREAKING GAMES!!

They're just not a very good team right now.

Disagree. They aren't a great team right now. But they aren't NOT good. And they will get better. It's not what you are in November. It's what you are starting in January that matters.

May have lost 70% of our 3pt offense, but Triche and MCW were putrid from behind the arc. I'm sure the replacements on the floor can shoot a better %, at least I hope they can.

Well we are young and still developing chemistry. Colgate shoots it too well to finish 8th in their league. They hit deep contested 3s all game and we missed 16 freebies. We are not a good ft team but also not that bad. Colgate had 3 6'11 guys who hit 3s and attacked the zone well. We will be a team that will grow as the season goes. Also last year mcw initiated everything. Ennis is a bit different type of player and the team has to learn to play different than last year.

Finally I will restate we are young. When we play our best game we will look unstoppable... when we are bad.. well its clear how we can look. Maui should be a good test and another good chemistry builder with nothing but hoops for a few days.

JB had a Huge smile on the bench today. Thats good news.

The offense was missing today but the defense was good and aggressive. I imagine we have been working hard on defense in practice, and that happens to syracuse all the time. They can come on flat offensively but play tough on D when they put all the practice time into the defense. Its something about syracuse teams, its like they work really hard on the offense or the defense and the other one gets caught out of their short term memory and instincts.

We Shot something like 38% from the field in the first half, lower then colgate who shot mainly 3's. Just a real poor offensive night it happens sometimes. Way to much riding on CJ though, even with Ennis 4 threes, that has got to change between grant, cooney, and whoever.

Very pleased with Gbinije, Roberson, Grant and Raks(early on) defensive motor. The trapping looked awesome today.

Was impressed with Gbinijes blow by ability today much better then what we saw all year, and Roberson had a nice post up play or two he may be ahead of grant offensively in the mid post, but defenetly not the high.

For those writing the obit for this team, you might consider that the Cuse is developing as a team. We lost a great deal from last year. We are very young. We will undoubtedly lose some games early on. However, I like our chances as the season progresses. We don't have the chemistry yet. On the positive side, our guard play is improving each game. What did we get from the guards tonight: 33 or so points, 6 steals, 5 assists, and lots of hustle.

I'm not the least bit worried. JB will have them hitting on all cylinders by Jan 1.

One thing I loved about the defense is how we trapped and bellied up to guys without fouling. That will be huge this year with the new rules emphases. Is that the plural of emphasis or did I just make up a word?

Anyway, I thought the trapping was great and the Trunk Monkey press turned the game around for us.

G looks much more comfortable. He was very tentative in the exhibition games. I now believe he'll be a useful guy off the bench. Each game he's become a little more aggressive. His length up top is a huge asset and a flashback to MCW.

Yeah I've liked what I've seen from him these first 3 games

My favorite thing is how we look like a dominant rebounding team. It was a big key last year to offset shooting woes and should help us again this year.
